That’s right friends, Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2, the game of starship combat in the grim darkness of the distant future, has arrived. With 3 massive campaigns that play differently, and all the factions you could hope to see gathered here–everyone from the Aeldari to the Tyranids is present–Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 takes us to the Dark Imperium. Take a look:
Set shortly after the fall of Cadia, the game follows one of three factions (well five, technically, because one of the factions is the Imperium with its Militarum, Mechanicus, and Astartes ships) as they wage warfare in the Aegis Ocularis, aka the sector of space near where Cadia used to be.
As we talked about in our campaign overview, each of these campaigns shows off something unique about the factions, they lend themselves to different playstyles. The Imperium wants to conquer worlds, the Necrons to awaken their forces within, and the Tyranids to just eat them wholesale.
You might only be able to play as one of five factions in the campaigns, but in the game’s skirmish mode, there are twelve playable options altogether. You’ll find Aeldari Corsairs, Asuryani, Drukhari, Orks, Tau Merchant Fleets and Tau Protector Fleets alongside the Imperium, Necrons, and Tyranids.
The game comes expecting you to enjoy multiplayer, with traditional head-to-head play supported via many different modes, but what has us excited around the office is a Campaign Co-Op mode that allows you and a friend to take control of the fleets and play through the campaigns together.
