Kill Team ARENA is up for Pre-Order today and we’ve got a firsthand look inside at this new Organized Play system – in a box!

Kill Team is off and running, and GW keeps knocking out every more products for its newest main line game system. Skirmish is hot and the ideal Gateway Drug to get new players into the Grimdark universe of games from Nottingham.

Kill Team ARENA is a dedicated supplement for competitive play and it does not disappoint.

The contents are everything a person would need to both compete in and run an organized play event for Kill Team.

Within the box you get:

  • 64 Page rulebook
  • 2 folding gameboards (heavy card)
  • Scenery (2 sprues, of doors, pipes, barrels, crates)
  • 12 mission cards
  • 28 tactics cards
  • 2 sets of 12 objective cards

Within the rulebook is where it gets interesting. You get 4 board options, and 4 Killzones, each of which is exactly defined, down to where you places each piece of terrain, and how to assemble them. There is nothing left to chance.

Then you use one of these 4 Kill Zones with variable environmental effects in the series of Standard and Battle Brothers (team) games. The board layouts in all cases are defined and if you own a set of ARENA, you have everything you need to compete. If you are running an competitive event, you will need to buy 1 set of ARENA for each 2 players who attend.

GW and Standards of Play

In the back of the rulebook is where is gets most interesting. There is a section on suggestions for running your events, that includes the basics like registration, verifying lists, managing rounds, scoring, and then… player behavior. There are suggestions for everything from how to handle WYSIWYG, slow play, cheating, player and spectator interactions, when to call judges and more.  I’ve never seen a GW supplement that ever even touched on these items and it’s refreshing to see them “step into the arena”.  Who knows where they will go next with this?

If you have any interest in playing Kill Team competitively, this is a MUST OWN, and TOs will be ordering dozens of these boxes to run their own events.

A most intriguing product…
