Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Will, and their bikes are coming back to the small screen. You’ll be able to binge on the next installment of the hit series on Independence Day.

The streaming service dropped a new teaser and poster on the last day of 2018 that reveal the release date.

I’m expecting we’ll see a trailer soon – maybe during the Super Bowl. For now, we have  the hints in the teaser and the episode titles:

  • Suzie, Do You Copy?
  • The Mall Rats
  • The Case Of The Missing Lifeguard
  • The Sauna Test
  • The Source
  • The Birthday
  • The Bite
  • The Battle Of Starcourt

The new episodes take inspiration from Fletch and Back To The Future – both of which came out in 1985 when the series is set. Fletch has been confirmed by David Harbour in an interview with Variety

“[Stranger Things creators and directors] The Duffers are so specific each year with the movies. And Fletch is one movie we get to play around and have some fun with this season, which you wouldn’t expect from Stranger Things and you wouldn’t expect from the Spielberg universe and you certainly wouldn’t expect from a darker season.”

Not sure how the influence those movies come into play, though. It’s possible that the answer to a mystery will have an unexpected to another. Or that the kids will have to wear disguises to solve it, or they’ll have to sing to conjure up some monster, or they’ll have to travel in time. Lots of possibles.

Stranger Things season three drops on July 4th.
