40K : Dreaming of Commorragh

2 Minute Read
Oct 17 2009
Warhammer 40K

The Dark Eldar have always held an odd spot in the Warhammer 40k Universe. They were hinted at from as far back as Rogue Trader (a good case can be made that the original RT Eldar described WERE Dark Eldar), then sprung into existance with a codex and miniatures range out of nowhere for 3rd Edition.

Thrown into the 3rd Edition boxed set, the race want from nowhere to front row overnight, yet were such a mis-matched counterpoint to the Marines included inthe box set, that they never seemed to really catch on. I still remember the stacks of Dark Eldar sprues you would see piling up in corners during 3rd edition as folks who bought the boxed set moved onto the other more popular armies, leaving the Dark Eldar to a lethal yet ever-shrinking sect of players.

And here we sit almost 10 years later, with hushed whispers of their eventual re-emergance as a full fledged and fleshed out member of the 40k universe. But despite our never ending moaning for their arrival, what would we really want to see in that new shiny codex?

This thread is an open tactical discussion of what you think an updated Dark Eldar most need and should change into. Lets get some specifics in here my fellow Archons. Whats just not cutting the mustard any more, or really needs to improve, and how would you do it? What’s a no-brainer that might need toning down? Feel free to offer up ideas and estimated point values of what you would like to see.

~For you non Dark Eldar-players, lets hear what you think the pitiless Caballite Eldar most need to make them a truly feared, unique yet varied opponent to face off against on the tabletop. The floor is yours…
