Playing Saim-Hann, and Destroyer spam Necrons, I used to go through a lot of flying bases as they break off at the peg from being used two or three times a week. The solution? Self contained magnetic flying stands that work for jetbikes, destroyers, land speeders, and anything else that uses the flimsy flying stand.

The conversions starts out by cannibalizing a magnetic construction kit toy known as “Magz” here in the USA, which consists of a collection of colored magnetic sticks that attach together to make geometric shapes and puzzles. Each plastic stick is the size of the GW flight stick and has a small powerful magnet at each end.

Paint the stick black or match it to the color of your army and then glue it down to the base of the flight stand. On your flying model tap in a small flat head screw either straight in, or on an angle to give the perspective that the model is zooming forward. The flat head is important so it will click flush with the magnet. Click the two together and you are all set to go. Necron players have the added bonus of tipping the model to the side of the stand yet still keeping it magnetized while you are waiting for your WBB rolls.

Fritz Out, catch you guys on Way of Saim-hann.
