You just can’t keep a good idea down.  Last year Michael Strange won BoLScon 2009 with his fantastic Techno-nids, and with a new shiny codex this year, he came back to Austin all the way from Germany loaded for bear.  Here are some shots of his newly updated army.

What I really like about Michael’s army is it really feels like a “total conversion”.  What I mean by that is that often these types of projects end up looking like one army with a handful of bitz from another range glued on to “mix it up”.  Even in cases where a massive amount of different ranges are used together it is a very delicate artistic balancing art to know exactly how far to push things so you end up with a unique final piece that is more than the sum of its parts.

I think Michael’s Techno-Nids have more than met this high mark, combining the very disparate ranges of Tyranids, Tau, Imperial, Orks, and a lot of other custom work, not to mention a stunning paintjob to give us this wholly formed visual army.

I love the little details like the tau-drone headed gaunts, the defiler mask on the leader, and the warp-portal mycetic spores.  Just genius, and I never tire of looking at it.

Lets give it up for Michael Strange for sharing his masterpiece with us.  Have at it folks.
