Goatboy’s 40k Lists – Bjorn Council of the Dead Kings

Warhammer 40K

Goatboy here again – looking at building a “themed” Bjorn list for the Space Wolves. The thought is that he will run with a group of Dreadnoughts to create the Council of the Dead Kings. So the idea is Bjorn and 2 Venerable Dreadnoughts plus some Space Wolves to make a viable list.

Will the list be competitive? Most likely it will be as my mind set is always about making a list that will do a little bit of ass kicking. Will it be the best ever? Probably not as I will try to keep within the theme of the special character. So without further ado – Bjorn’s Council of the Dead Kings.

HQ: Bjorn, TWL Lascannon
Elite: Venerable Dreadnought, Multi-Melta, Extra Armor
Elite: Venerable Dreadnought, Multi-Melta, Extra Armor
Elite: Venerable Dreadnought, Multi-Melta, Extra Armor
Troops: Grey Hunters (10), Flamer X 2, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters (10), Meltagun X 2, Drop Pod
Troops: Grey Hunters (10), Meltagun X 2, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Troops: Grey Hunters (10), Flamer X 2, Mark of the Wolfen, Rhino
Heavy: Long Fangs X 5, Missile Launcher X 4
Heavy: Long Fangs X 5, Missile Launcher X 4

Hits right at 1840 points. Obviously the 8 missile launchers starts getting it into spam country but it fits into today’s metagame you are going to need it to kill all the random metal boxes. If you want to change things up, try out 5 Missile Launchers in one squad and 5 Heavy Bolters in the other.

Bjorn walks with his old drinking buddies and tries to put the hurt on anything in the way. The best thing is that in 2 objective games, Bjorn can die and you can easily win the tank stalemate you might normally see in the games. What 40 troops you should have enough scoring. The two pods are there to stop some random big monsters/tanks/speed bumps/etc.

Give it a shot, Bjorn is one of the hidden HQ gems from the Space Wolves book and I think something to seriously think about as a lot of tournaments/games have objective missions and getting one that gives you fearless too is something to look into.
