It’s been a wild ride with Hobbit and 40K rumors and counter-rumors all over the place.  But at last we have some clarity.  Here’s what lies ahead for the holidays:

First this product sheet has been doing the rounds:

We have seen dozens of these over the years and have every confidence in this one.

So what does it mean comparing it to what we’ve been hearing for the past month?

Tyranids
I know, I know… We really, really tried to not report every little teensy hyper-ventilating rumor back and forth, trying to take a more high altitude view of the rumors. But yes even we got hood-winked.  It happens from time to time and we apologize.  By the time the Tyranids arrive in January, we should have another entire month of rules, and sneak peek images to savor.  I would expect images to start showing up in about 3 weeks.

40K Expansion Books
It looks like these were right on the money, showing up next weekend!  Escalation means look for the appearance of superheavies on tabletops near you and who knows what level of detail the rules for them will be.  If the set of just over a dozen “approved” superheavies is indeed coming it could easily be seen as a roadmap for future plastic kits coming to fill out the plastic “big-kit” range from GW to give all the races some oversized love.

The second book Stronghold Assault is (obviously) fortification focused, so look for all kinds of “compound fortifications” that combine several existing ones into new configurations with unique rules.  It would appear that GW really wants to move those plastic fortification kits.

The Hobbit
And at long last the Hobbit kits arrive.  Just a note for you readers… the movie’s full title is The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.  Oddly, I don’t see any Smaug on that product list.  Hmmm….

~Have at it folks.
