Welcome to another “This Week in 40K Podcasting,” Here is this week’s top 5

Highlights:  This week the boys close out their coverage of Codex Space Marines!  They opened up the show with some announcements and what they have been up to lately in gaming and the hobby.  The boys then moved on to their finale of their review of Codex Space Marines, and they started off with the Elite choices and the Vanguard Squads.  They also covered Sternguard Veterans, Dreadnaughts, Legion of the Damned, Terminators and the new Centurion Assault Squads.  They moved on to the Fast Attack slot where they covered the Assault Squads, Land Speeders, Stromtalons, Bikes and Attack Bikes.  They then finished off the book with the Heavy Suppoort, starting with Devastators, and rolled on to the awesome Centurion Devastators, Thunderfire Cannons, the stock marine tanks, the new Hunter and Stalker, and the Stormraven.

Opinion:  Well, what a review!  A massive three part review of Codex Space Marines came to a close and it was quite good!  I would recommend going back to the previous two episodes to get the full picture of how detailed the guys got with this book.  I cannot recommend their review highly enough and this one put the guys on the top of my list this week!

Highlights:  This week the boys take a good look at the new Adepta Sororitas codex.  The guys kick off the show with ‘The Roundup’ where they discussed what they have been up to lately in gaming and the hobby.  This included a recent Tournament at the Stomping Grounds!  Next up the guys cover the news, where they talked about Farsight Enclave hardcover release, new Forgeworld models, and much more!  They moved on to discuss the new Inquisition Codex and the rumors of the Tyranid Codex.  Next, the boys moved on to their review of the new Adepta Sororitas Codex.  This started off with the new Warlord Traits, Acts of Faith for each unit, and much more.  They then moved on to discuss their allied options and their very brief look at the book and how disappointed they were with the final product.  This was not a full review as we have come to expect from the guys, but they did hit on most of the major changes to the book.  Next came the boys signature ‘Battle Report’ and they started off discussing the two armies in the battle, IG and Farsight Enclave, the 1000 point lists, the ‘Cities of Death’ mission and deployment and the battlefield setup.  Next up was the dramatization of this great battle which was followed up by a review of the battle’s outcome.  After that the boys had a new segment called ‘Turn 8 Tips’ where they gave some advice to a player looking for tactics on Eldar and facing the vicious Tau army.  They closed out the show with ‘Bill’s Gaming Corner’ where this week they discussed the new Space Hulk video game!

Opinion:  Overall I was really pleased with this week’s show and the Battle Report as usual is the major highlight of the show.  If I were to have a complaint, it was that their coverage of the Sister Codex was not very complete.  Now I know we all know this book is really not the best, but it did not feel like their best effort.  However, the content of the rest of the made up for it ten-fold!

Preferred Enemies – 64 ***Explicit***

Highlights:  This week the guys are focusing on tips for getting that army painted!  They open up the show with some news and this included the announcement of Codex Inquisition and some new Apoc Formations!  They moved on to the main topic of the show, which is ‘Finishing off an Army’.  This did not involve the purchasing or assembling of an army, but rather the painting of an army.  The guys sat down and gave some great tips on first how to motivate yourself into painting army and next how to pick out that paint scheme that you really like.  They also discussed ideas for a plan to paint an army, including setting monthly goals to meet, the Independent Characters Painting Challenge and Kanban Boards.  They then give some great tips for getting a lot of models done quickly with techniques like washing, drybrushing, assembly line painting and sealing.  They then talked about places on the internet where to find some tips and guides that show you how to paint a miniature.  They closed out their show with their brief hobby progress updates where they discussed what they have been getting done in the hobby and gaming.

Opinion:  This episode surely hit home for me this week as I have been in a painting funk for some time now.  All of the tips the guys provided were just outstanding for both new and experienced player looking to get that army painted and for more tutorials on how to get that great tabletop look.  Nice work guys!

Highlights:  This week the boys opened up the show with what they have been up to lately in the hobby and gaming; this included their weekly listener pool on Sisters of Battle and if you are taking them off of the shelf.  They moved on to ‘Model of the Week’ in which they discussed the leaked photo of the new Tyranid Hive Guard.  They then moved on to the main segment of the show, the ‘Listener Mailbag’ where they answer some questions from their fans.  This included advice on a gamer about to get married, rolling all Space Marine chapters into one book, the future of an Adeptus Mechanicus army, and much more.  To close out the show, the guys sit down to discuss individual chapter tactics and some list building ideas and tactics for each.  This included Imperial Fists, Salamanders, Ultramarines, and much more!

Opinion:  This was a great start to my week this week as I needed a good laugh.  I genuinely laughed out loud at this week’s ‘Model of the Week’ segment!  The mailbag was interesting, but the Chapter Tactic army builds were my personal favorite from this week’s show.

Highlights:  This week the guys opened up their show by discussing the live broadcast they had last week and they battle report that came from it.  This rolled into a conversation about their preparations for the 11thCompany’s GT and some tactical discussion about Space Marines!  The boys then discussed what they are bringing to the 11th Company GT and how they hope to attack the field.  This included a few very interesting list choices.  They closed out the show by taking a sneak peak at the upcoming Inquisition Codex.

Opinion:  This week’s show was short, sweet, and quite interesting.  I have to say that the show started off with a great premise in preparing for a very competitive event but trailed off at the end quite a bit.  I wish they would have stayed more on target and focused in on their lists and how they matched up to other net lists out there.
