In the grim dark past, death stalks the Olde World, because in this book all seems lost for the heroic forces of man, elf and dwarf.

The Nagash End of Times book is actually two books inside a nice slip case. Book I is a nicely laid out 300 page book detailing Nagash’s current rise to power amongst the growing discord of the Fantasy Realm. Book II details how to play in the end times using Nagash, or his forces, and gives you more choices to field such as Valten, Krell, and Crom as well.

With the new rules any of the fantasy armies can now use Undead Magic, and if you are fielding an army of the End Times up to 50% of your points can be Lord level models!   If you are a fan of the background to Warhammer fantasy this set of book is for you. I am only a little over 100 pages into this thing and already everything I knew about the olde world has changed. Legends have risen and fallen the world over. Major players have changed sides and follow new masters now; both willingly and otherwise.

The lands of the Old Ones are now lost to the Lizardmen, who have deemed the Great Plan a failure and begun their exodus, and the Island of Ulthuan has begun to sunder once more under the assault of Chaos Magic. Daemons of all the four gods of Chaos have bent knee to Archeon (the Lord of the End Times) and the resulting horde is now careening to a final showdown with the forces of the supreme master of the undead; Nagash himself. Plus (super spoiler alert) it seems that Nagash could actually be the savior of the Fantasy world, that is if there is anything left of it both before and after victory… If you have played Fantasy in the past twenty-five or so years and love a good read, this book is for you.

If you love the world of Warhammer Fantasy, but don’t play the game, this book is also for you. It’s almost like this End Times series is the “Horus Heresy” of Warhammer Fantasy, and I surely can not wait for the next book to hit.

Also if I was a betting man, I would imagine this series being a pre-cursor to 9th Edition Fantasy or a series of living updates for the game itself.
