GW shows off their new 40K boxed set and new models – Don’t miss these closeups.

Ohh, look at that cinematography.  The depth of field, the pans, the closeups.  Someone at GW is having a great time with their camera.

I am REALLY impressed with GW on this release.  This has to be one of the real gaming values they have put on the market in some time.  There is over $300 of stuff in this kit being offered for $125.

Now while many will say that many of the units are sub-par – that is more a reflection of the current “hardcore tourney” scene than anything else.  What these units really are – are the backbone of many of the armies iconic units, and will look fantastic on the tabletop, and give you a workable core to build off of.

There is also the small matter of not knowing what the Blood Angels will get in their codex for a couple of weeks, so it’s a premature criticism in any case.

The new bases are all over the place in this box, with not only the new 32mm rounds on the Death Company, but the  apparently new ovals for the Carnifex and the Spawn of Cryptus.

GW may be moving to new dedicated basing sizes for the various categories of bulky models.  It’s nice moving forward, but I have this funny feeling, all of us aren’t going to be flying out to rebase our entire collections to match.

~Who’s planning on picking up this one, or splitting it with a friend?
