Codex Space Marines 2015

It seems every day there are more options for creative Warhammer 40,000 armylist builders.  Here’s today’s new options!

It all started so innocently,

BoLS reader m0nolith had a simple question:

Cound I use the Minotaurs chaplain special character “Ivanus Enkomi” as my chaplain in a battle demi-company?

So he composed a nice letter to the fine chaps at Forge World and clicked “send”.  Expecting nothing, m0nolith was shocked to receive this reply:

“Hi .

Our rules guys will be working on an errata/faq to cover how the Forge World Space Marine characters and units interact with the new Codex: Space Marines. We can’t tell you when this this will happen as we simply don’t know at the moment but hopefully it shouldn’t be too far away.

In the meantime we think it’s perfectly acceptable to replace any of the character types mentioned in the Codex: Space Marine formations with any of the Forge World Space Marine characters where appropriate. By this last point we mean Captains exchanged for Captains, Chaplains for Chaplains and Chapter Masters or Chapters Masters etc.”

So it looks like Forge World is giving the green light to mix and matching Forgeworld Space Marine characters with the current Space Marine codex, – but more importantly, with the new Space Marine formations.  There are a LOT of Forgeworld Space Marine characters out there, from the Badab Wars, to Siege of Vraks, to Castorel-Novem to name just a few.  I have a feeling ther are going to be some really mean special rule combos out there.

The Demi-glaive just got better!

So what’s the craziest Forgeworld -SM codex Formation mashup you’ve come up with?  Get to it rules lawyers!
