The Tabletop Spotlight is on Flock from AEG – Will your Flock be at the top of the pecking order?

Hi BoLS Readers! Our Friends over at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought over a new game from AEG – Flock. At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However, after reading through the rules for a moment I suddenly realized how deep this strategy game runs.

It’s a simple concept. You’re trying to gain Victory Points by growing your Flock and controlling cards. The person with the most VPs at the end of 3 rounds wins. But the catch is that if you run out of worms your birds will fly away. With 5 different action cards, 4 different resources to manage and up to 5 players attempting to establish dominance…things can get interesting quickly! This is one of those games that can be sneaky good fun. You may come up with a winning strategy early but what happens when someone catches on and decides to try and block or scoop you on VPs? Will your strategy hold out or will your Flock go the way of the Dodo?

The components mirror this games simple-yet-functional game design. The wood counters simple & durable and the art is crisp and fun. It may not have a ton of components inside but that’s the beauty of this game – it may not be as flashy as some miniatures games but I have a feeling you’ll get a lot of milage out of this one. It’s definitely family friendly and a perfect game to play with your “non-gamer” friends. It’s simple to learn, difficult to master depth is what keeps this one interesting. Plus you never know exactly what the other player will do when your birds hit the board…So go check it out!

Lead the most impressive flock through feeding, nest building and hatching. Selecting the actions is simple, but when one bird flies, so do all the others! Can you time your actions to take advantage of when the flocks fly?

During the game, players try to expand their flock with the goal of scoring the most victory points after three rounds of play. Victory points are scored by controlling the action cards at the end of each round. Also, be sure to have enough tasty worms to feed your birds at the end of each round, otherwise they will fly away.
