Move over Stardrake. Watch-out Dracothian Guard. The new Stormcast Gryph-Cavarly are on the horizon!

The Stormcast Eternals are getting a “branch” to their organization. They already had the Extremis Chamber with their heavy warbeasts. We saw some previous teasers of the new Stormcast Vanguard Chamber earlier this week. Well now we’re seeing at least one more brand new really awesome looking models on the way:

via Warhammer Community

A few days back, some of you Gryph-eyed readers noticed that in our post on the new Stormcast Vanguard Chamber we mentioned that they were expert cavalrymen. But what would a fast moving strikeforce of Stormcasts ride into battle?

They are too big for horses, that’s for sure. Dracoths are sturdy mounts, but they are not the fastest beasts in the Realms, and hardly suited for a fast, scouting force. Enter the Gryph-charger – a noble beast of the Celestial Realm and trusty mount to Sigmar’s Vanguard.

The Gryph-charger is clearly of the same origin as Gryph-hounds, whether magical or biological, but of an order of magnitude larger. It stands taller than a Demigryph, though is less stockily built – looking sleeker and faster than the noble mounts of the Freeguild Knights.

The Stormcast himself is wearing armour in keeping with the lighter sigmarite plate of the new Stormcast Eternals Rangers we saw on Monday, but more ornate. This hero is in fact a Lord-Aquilor, who are the leaders of this new breed of Stormcast Eternals.

He is just one of the new kits that will be accompanying the new Stormcast Eternals Battletome in February.

So there you have it folks – we’re going to be seeing this and other new Stormcast Vanguard Chamber models this February along with a new Battletome as well. I can’t wait!

Reading between the lines it sounds like you’re going to be able to take units of Stormcasts riding these Gryph-chargers. In a game like AoS units that move quick can be the difference between scoring objectives or losing out. The Stormcasts have a pretty solid alpha-strike option and now they are getting some (more) calvary to call in. I’m very curious to see the stats on these and how they compare to the Dracothian Guard.

I’m really glad I got one of those Stormcast Battleforces for Christmas. I think Ol’ Saint Nick might of knew what was coming…
