The Games Workshop Global Campaign is kicking off soon and the first mission is already up. The Fate of Konor is in your hands!
Games Workshop’s Global Campaign for Warhammer 40,000 is heating up this week as the storm clouds gather before the war beings. The Fate of Konor website is humming with activity as the count-down clock approaches go time. Today, the site now has the first mission available for everyone to see – Here comes the Invasion!

“Astaramis has come under direct and heavy attack from the forces of Chaos. Yet it seems they are not the only threat, for alien forces of every ilk have been reported on the planet’s surface. If this is true, their intentions as yet remain unclear. In response, mighty armies are mustered to defend the sprawling hive world and battle is joined in earnest.”
This week’s mission is an Invasion style mission. There is an attacker and defender in this scenario and thematically, the battlefield should consist of buildings, obstacles and defenses the defender has been tasked with protecting from the invading horde. If you’re playing this one, the player with the Imperium Keyword should be the defender. If neither player is using an Imperium Keyword army, then players roll off to see who is who!
This one falls squarely in the Narrative Play style game – we’re telling a story here after-all! Players can take whatever they would like – HOWEVER, if you build a Battle-forged army you will get access to the unique Fate of Konor Stratagems for this mission (see below). (Note: You’ll probably want to talk to your opponent to see what type of game they want to play BEFORE you start placing models…just sayin.)
After determining the attacker/defender and terrain, players alternate dropping units down starting with the defender. You have to deploy your units in your respective deployment zones with no more than half your units placed in reserve.
This is important so here’s a direct quote on how Reserves are DIFFERENT:
Starting from the second battle round, each player makes a roll for each of their units in Reserve at the end of their Movement phase. On a 3+ the unit being rolled for arrives from Reserve. Units automatically arrive at the end of a player’s fourth Movement phase if they have not already done so.
When a unit arrives, set it up anywhere within 6″ of the controlling player’s battlefield edge that is not within 9″ of any enemy models.
The Battle Length
Use Random Game Length (see Narrative Battle Rules in the BRB for more info).
The battle is a Victory Point Game – the player with the most wins and in the case of a tie it’s a draw…with some slight changes:
- Breach Their Lines: The Attacker scores 1 victory point for each of their units with at least one model completely within the Defender’s deployment zone at the end of the battle.
- Destroy Any Approach: Each time one of the Attacker’s units is destroyed, the Defender scores 1 victory point.
- Slay the Warlord: If the enemy Warlord has been slain during the battle, you score 1 victory point.
Players may spend their Command Points (CP) the special weekly strategems for Fate of Konor (check with your local store for those) and they also have access to these two unique bonus stratagems:
AT THE DOUBLE-QUICK
Use this Stratagem in the Charge phase to charge with a friendly unit that Advanced earlier in the turn.
Use this Stratagem immediately before firing Overwatch with a friendly unit in your opponent’s Charge phase to re-roll all failed hit rolls for that unit. In addition, your opponent must subtract 1 from their charge distance for each model in the charging unit that was slain by your unit’s Overwatch fire.
The Battle Commences officially on July 27th. There is still time to prep for war. Who’s side will you join in the battle for the Fate of Konor?
