Ancient scholars, space dwarves, and drunk Vikings- Come check out this week’s batch of Kickstarter highlights!

Battle for Greyport- Pirates! by SlugFest Games

First up this week is the pirate-themed expansion to last year’s Battle for Greyport, the cooperative deckbuilding spin-off of The Red Dragon Inn. Players have to defend the titular city of Greyport from yet another menace: A fleet of pirates that plan to plunder Greyport of all its wealth. Players pick one of four new decks based on characters from the 4th Red Dragon Inn expansion and cooperate to defeat each scenario’s band of pirates and their captain. In addition to some new keywords, Pirates! also introduces pirate ships, which are a new win condition, and the cannon die, a new low-tier die that can be used by friend and foe alike during combat. The basic version of the new expansion costs $25. You can also grab a copy of the base game if you are new to Greyport.

Alexandria by LudiCreations

Alexandria is an asymmetrical euro-style board game about the fire that destroyed the Great Library of Alexandria. Each player controls a unique character with their own special abilities and motivations for being in Alexandria. Gameplay involves traveling around the randomly-generated game board gathering as many tomes and scribes as possible to save some of the library’s knowledge from destruction. While players can assist each other, Alexandria is ultimately a competitive game where each character has their own agenda to fulfill before the library burns to the ground. Pledges start at $29.

Vikings Gone Wild- Masters of Elements by Lucky Duck Games

Vikings Gone Wild is back on Kickstarter with its new Masters of Elements expansion. This expansion promises to be the biggest and most complex expansion the game has ever received, and introduces a variety of new mechanics. The most obvious new addition is the Masters of Elements themselves, a character card each player gets that generates elemental resources for them every turn. Players also get to draft a set of three artifacts, each with abilities that get progressively more powerful as the game goes on. New units are also being introduced, most of which contain secondary utility powers to give players more options besides “attack” and “defend.” Pledges start at $35 for just the expansion, with other tiers available that include the base game and previous expansions.

The Legion of Steel by Macrocosm

Macrocosm is expanding their Digger Corps line of space dwarves with The Legion of Steel. These guys represent the more professional military side of the Diggers, and include everything from basic soldiers to auxiliary units from other races. Heavy weapon teams and a few vehicles round out some of the stretch goals. The campaign is divided into “sets,” which generally include a squad of five soldiers for around £12/$15.

Table of Ultimate Gaming by Wood Robot

Finally we come to the latest competitor in the premium gaming table market, the Table of Ultimate Gaming. Each table comes in your choice of 3’x5′ or 4’x6′, and their modular design allows you to push multiple tables together for extra gaming space. There are loads of optional add-ops as well, including cup holders, dice trays, color and material options, modular decor that can be changed as you see fit, and table covers that can convert your gaming table into a normal dining set. Pledges start at $599.
