4 Minute Read
Sep 14 2017

Pick up some player options and delve deeper into Azlant with the latest from Paizo.

Got a couple new Pathfinder releases for you feat fans and archetype allies. First up, spice up your characters life with a little of the dark side. Be a bad boy or girl, wear lots of black leather and swoosh your hair to one side with the Antihero’s handbook. This book is all about adventurers who see the world in shades of gray. Dark gray.

Although, classically speaking, the original antihero archetype more closely resembled Spider-Man than Spider-Man 3, what with a tendency to use humor, to be not grim, or brave. Anyway, make sure your adventurer has enough black clothing before you pick this book up.

Antihero’s Handbook$14.99

Not all adventurers are exemplars of heroism, righteousness, and justice, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get the job done. With Pathfinder Player Companion: Antihero’s Handbook, you’ll find new rules options for characters on the shady side of morality. Whether you need a less-than-heroic background to justify your character’s flaws, are looking to join an antiheroic organization, or seek ways to play corrupt or cowardly adventurers, this book has just what you’re after. Featuring new archetypes, alchemical items and discoveries, and magic items, Antihero’s Handbook is the perfect guide for anyone not willing to stick to the straight and narrow.

Inside this book, you’ll find:

  • New archetypes, including a vigilante who changes identities even more radically than most, a rogue who handles jobs discreetly, and a gunslinger who talks big to keep his enemies off their game.
  • A new bloodrager bloodline, corruption, and phantom emotional focus to help bring an adventurer’s dark past to bear in the present with still darker power.
  • New drawbacks, feats, poisons, and even cursed items that antiheroic adventurers can use to further their questionable causes, often at the expense of their reputation—or their allies!

This Pathfinder Player Companion is intended for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and the Pathfinder campaign setting, but it can easily be incorporated into any fantasy world.

I just want to say, this book sounds like a lot of fun. A big-talking gunslinger sounds like our could be so much fun to play out. And this is definitely where you’ll find your roguish scoundrels alongside your Liefieldian Broodlords.

But then, once you’ve got your (anti)hero all dressed up, they might have nowhere to go. That’s what’s the next leg of the Ruins of Azlant comes in handy. All you have to do is head on down to the ruins of a forgotten empire and get attacked by sinister forces while you wait.

Ruins of Azlant – Into the Shattered Continent$24.99

Island Intrigue

After working to secure their settlement on a surviving fragment of the lost continent of Azlant, the adventurers aid the colony by exploring the rest of the island to search for resources and look for potential dangers. Soon they learn of a sea hag whose attempts to revive the powerful oracular powers of the Azlanti threaten the island’s inhabitants. But an even greater peril confronts them as they begin to notice that some people in the settlement are acting strangely—a haunting echo of the clues left behind after the original settlers vanished. Sinister forces are at work in the colony, and the adventurers must uncover a menacing threat to the settlement before they become the next victims of a vile plot.
