Will Hungerford talks up the two newest Solos to join the ranks of the Protectorate and Legion.

Take it away Will:

I’m talking about Exemplar Warder Elias Gade and Craelix, Fang of Everblight. These two models were developed around the time we were creating Company of Iron and were often used in testing as we fine-tuned the core rules for the upcoming skirmish game …

Now then, let’s get back to the focus of this Insider: these two new models.

First up is Elias Gade, an Exemplar Errant solo for the Protectorate of Menoth. Gade is a potent combat solo on his own and requires little to no support from other Errants or even his warcaster. With Advance Deployment, Assault, Pathfinder, Prey, True Sight, and a pair of magical crossbows, both of which are rocking Weapon Master bayonets, the good Mister Gade is built for one thing: dealing death.

Specifically, Gade deals death to his Prey no matter where they might try to hide and with terrifying accuracy. As I mentioned, you don’t need to run Errants with Gade to get the most out of him—he’s fine all on his own. That said, though, if you’re already taking Exemplar Errants in your list, you’re almost definitely going to want to include Gade.

Not only does Gade have Call to Sacrifice [Exemplar Errant] to keep his murderous butt alive, but he returns the favor by providing Pathfinder to all Exemplar Errants in his respectable command range of 9˝. What a beast!

Next up is Craelix, Fang of Everblight. Have you ever looked at the Everblight Succubus model and thought to yourself, “Wow, I wish I could give that thing a pair of swords and a longbow and just have it murder the world?” Well if you’re anything like me, you have thought that, and I’ve got some good news.

We made that monster.

Craelix is fairly hard to take down, thanks to Sacrificial Pawn [Blighted Nyss Archers], DEF 15, and Steady. With Pathfinder and Swift Hunter, he also goes exactly where he wants to as he slaughters the enemy. But how does he slaughter said enemy, you ask? Oh, that’s easy.

Craelix has a ROF 3 Blessed Longbow with three different attack types and Arcing Fire as well as a pair of Poison swords to swat away infantry that gets too close. Let’s dissect those attack types real quick, shall we?

  • Blight Spasm says that when Craelix boxes an enemy model with his bow, EACH enemy model within 1˝ of the boxed model suffers a damage roll with a POW equal to the boxed model’s STR. On a good day and with a properly packed group of enemy infantry, it’s not uncommon for Craelix to kill upwards of 6–8 light infantry in a single activation by himself.
  • Poison. Because Poison is good.
  • Weaken, which says that living models suffer –2 STR and DEF for one round. Not just living warrior models, living models. So, if you ever wanted to drop the DEF and STR on…oh, I dunno, three enemy heavy warbeasts with a single solo, Craelix has you covered.

Look for both Gade and Craelix to hit your local gaming store’s shelves today, (or online at store.privateerpress.com! You’ll be able to find their stat cards in both War Room and on our card database.
