The Denizens of the Warp are going to be able to cause LOTS of headaches with the new Chaos Daemons Codex!

Get ready to duck and cover* because the Chaos Daemons are going to be dropping a BOMB on the tabletop. Games Workshop revealed in their latest stream that Denizens of the Warp, a new stratagem, will be able to work on ANY unit with the DAEMON Keyword. Luckily, we just happen to have a copy of the book on hand as well.

Oh and Maggotkin, too.

So what’s the big deal and what does this stratagem do? Well, take a look:

I know a lot of folks are going to be thinking “What’s the big deal? Can’t Daemons already be summoned? Who cares?!”  Well, let’s talk this out and why it’s such a big deal.

First off, it’s NOT a summon – so it can’t fail. Second, it’s just like the Alpha Legion/Raven Guard/Etc. type where you can use this Stratagem as many times before the game as you have Command Points to spend. There is NOTHING about it only being usable once. And, again, it’s pre-game so you can spend all your points if you want to.

Thirdly, it’s for ANY unit with the DAEMON keyword. Think about that a for a moment. That applies to just about everything in the Chaos Daemons Codex as well as quite a few models in the Chaos Space Marines and Death Guard Codexes, too. Here’s a few examples that we thought of just off the top:

  • Mortarion
  • Daemon Princes
  • Magus
  • Foetid Bloat-drones
  • Blight Haulers
  • Maulerfiends
  • A Lord of SKULLS

Well that escalated quickly…

Yeah. It can get pretty silly, pretty quick! Dropping in a Daemon Primarch like Magnus or Mortarion means they can pop-out, Warp Time and be in your face before you can do ANYTHING to respond. And for folks thinking “I’ll just bring out my bubble wrap units and protect the soft, squishy parts of my army” – Those guys can FLY.

You can run…but I can FLY.

Suddenly Codex: Chaos Daemons just got a lot more interesting.
