The next mythos pack for Arkham Horror The Card Game is out now – The Pallid Mask awaits!

Arkham Horror Fans, the next Mythos Pack in the Path to Carcosa is out now! I’m personally really excited as I had this one on Pre-order from my FLGS and have already gotten to take a look at it. Pallid Mask has some great new cards for investigators, but perhaps more importantly, we get to go on the next leg of the Carcosa story arc!

Your search for answers following the fateful performance of The King in Yellow has taken you across the sea to Paris, where you encountered a stranger whom you suspect is somehow connected to the mystery. Now, you must descend into Paris’s labyrinthine catacombs if you hope to uncover the truth and bring an end to the strange happenings that followed the cursed play wherever it is performed. The Pallid Mask, the fourth Mythos Pack in The Path to Carcosa cycle for Arkham Horror: The Card Game, is on sale now at your local retailer or online through our webstore here!

The Upgrades

For the investigators, they get access to some pretty great new cards. Watch this! is a gambit card that can pay off big time. It’s got 3 different Icons, but perhaps more interestingly, it’s got a way for you to double you resources. If you succeed, of course.

Mano a Mano is a great card for putting damage on tough enemies. It’s just a free 1 pointer that doesn’t provoke any attacks of opportunity. If you’ve played Arkham, you’re probably aware of how useful auto damage can be on an investigators turn. If not, you might want to consider it!

Seekers, Eureka! is a great card for you to add to your deck. Much like Watch this! it has 3 icons and has a bonus of allowing you to check the next 3 cards of your deck and draw one. That can be pretty handy!

Survivors are getting a new card called Waylay – it allows you to defeat an exhausted non-Elite enemy at your location…if you can beat it’s agility value. And for the Mystics, Torrent of Power is a new card that allows you to use charges from other spells/assets to gain a Will Power and a “?” to a test. That could really save the day on a clutch skill check.

Upgrades to Old Friends

There are a few other cards that aren’t new but are higher level versions of previous cards. First Aid, can now heal health AND mental damage. Shortcut stays on a location and any investigator can use it as a quick action (which is SUPER handy). The .41 Derringer can net you some extra actions on a successful attack. There is a newer Scrying, Chance Encounter AND Emergency Cache as well.

Really, if you’ve been playing Path to Carcosa, you were probably going to pick this one up anyhow – and I can’t blame you! But even if you’re not, just about any investigator is going to be glad to have access to these cards. The Pallid Mask is out now and waiting for you to try it on…

From the streets of Paris to the city’s subterranean catacombs, your pursuit of the truth behind The King in Yellowl eads you farther and farther from Arkham’s familiar landmarks. But the streets, the language, and the eerie, dark tunnels aren’t the only foreign elements at play. There’s something distinctly otherworldly in the Parisian catacombs…

In The Pallid Mask scenario, you and your fellow investigators will enter these tunnels in search of a stranger whom you believe must be connected to the events surrounding the performance of The King in Yellow at the Ward Theatre in Arkham. But with each new strange twist and turn, you’ll find yourselves only stepping deeper into mystery. Perhaps you can follow the tunnels all the way to the pulsing heart of the play’s mysteries, but there’s a chance, too, you’ll simply find yourselves lost amid the shifting landscape. What begins as a trek through moist and clammy tunnels of stone may become a journey that leads you under the earth, through The Gate to Hell, and straight to your demise at the Well of Souls or some other forgotten chamber.

Destined to be a fan-favorite, the scenario from The Pallid Mask utilizes the game’s locations in a novel way, bringing them into play only as you travel through them, and arranging them in a constantly shifting and unpredictable fashion. Each new step through these labyrinths could be your last.

Camilla: You, sir, should unmask.
Stranger: Indeed?
Cassilda: Indeed it’s time. We have all laid aside disguise but you.
Stranger: I wear no mask.
Camilla: (Terrified, aside to Cassilda.) No mask? No mask!
