Goatboy here with a Custodes Army screaming to take over your tabletop – King Arthur style!

You know I love spamming a big punchy unit.  In fact it is probably my favorite thing to build a list around.  Normally I like Daemon Princes as they can fly, do a decent amount of damage, and have access to some killer spells.  Well this list isn’t like that as it drops the spell part and replaces it with Golden Gods who race upon the extra exhaust heavy Jetbikes of the Imperium.  I blame Abe for throwing this idea around in my head with his nefarious list building chitter chatter.  With that – let’s start with the initial idea.

Now as much as I think the Custodes book is a bit over costed there are some interesting things in there.  My favorite thing is the Shield Captain on a Dawneagle Jetbike.  Wow that is a ton of words thrown together and mixed with some Gold Glitter to get to work.  Anyway these are the guys that will end up being the Gel to create a whole mess of dumb nonsense in a rather “cheap” list to build.  I actually kinda think it does have some play as it has some movement, powerful assault options, and a Command point battery to create some crazy interactions.  You mix a ton of these guys, one of the cool banners, and some cheap AM guys to help build/regrow some Command Points and you got something sweet.

Tactics

The idea here is to give each HQ biker a Knight of the Round Table name.  As you play the game you need to keep a record of what each one does – that way you can see which Knight ends up being the worst for you.  I would use the Insignias from the King Arthur legends to try and keep everything looking cool and “thematic” beyond just – how many dumb things can I fit into an army and hope they work.  Each of the Knights have 7 wounds, 6 attacks, and with a built in 2+/4++ they are a pain in the butt to remove.  With a true CP battery to rebuild your stratagems turn after turn and you got something pretty annoying.  Plus all of the bikers are “objective secured” so while they won’t be taking anything away from a unit of troops – they will be stealing a ton of stuff from any non Troop based army.

Building the Army

Breaking down the cost – the most expensive thing is you need 4 boxes of bikes, one box of super terminators, and then as many basic Troops you can muster for the AM side.

Box of Terminators – $50.00
4 Boxes of Jetbikes – $240.00
3 Boxes of Cadians – $57.00
1 Box of 5 Cadians – $10.00

At normal 15% discount that comes out to a bit over 300 bucks – which isn’t bad for a rather nutty looking army.  You might get cheaper Cadians if you look around and find a way to get a single Terminator guy to remove another big fat $50.00 dollar cost to your army.  Will this army work?  Who the heck knows.  I just know it will look completely bad a$$ on the table top as you zoom and zip around the table like a crazy knight.

~If only you could add coconuts to all the Jetbikes.
