Star Wars X-Wing 2.0: Unboxing The Slave I Expansion

3 Minute Read
Jul 10 2018

The Firespray returns with a vengence in X-Wing 2.0. It’s got a smaller, sleeker base and some new tricks under the hood – come take a look inside the Slave I Expansion Pack for Star Wars X-Wing!

So far, we’ve taken a look inside the Core Set, and all three of the conversion packs. Today we’re getting a look at a particular bounty hunter’s ship of choice. Come see what’s under the hood of the Slave I Expansion:

This ship blasted off from Cloud City and landed in fandom’s psyche as one of the most unique ships in all of Star Wars. The Firespray, aka Slave I, was Boba Fett’s ride while the mysterious bounty hunter tracked his mark.  In X-Wing, it’s a versitile ship that shows off some newer things in the second edition of the game.

The first big change is that this ship is no longer available for Imperial Players – it’s squarely a Scum and Villainy ship. Second, it’s now flying on the new medium base as opposed to the large base. Get ready to adjust your maneuvers accordingly. And finally, this ship showcases the front and rear firing arcs.

Sure, it could fire behind in the previous edition, but in 2.0 the arcs are more defined (ie, clearly marked on the base). Plus the attack of the arcs are listed separately. As we saw with the Lambda Shuttle, that makes FFG can alter the firepower of the two different Arcs – pretty cool, right?

The Slave I expansion also has all the cards, tokens, dials and the ship – so pretty much everything you’ll need to play the Slave I (or other Firesprays) in the box. One big difference between this box and the conversion pack is that it DOES include the new threat level cards. Those are a new optional way to play and make for a good launching point for new players.

This pack, along with all the other launch day products, will be available September 13, 2018! You can Pre-order it from FFG or check with your FLGS about pre-ordering from them.

Slave I Expansion Pack $29.95

While the pilots of the Empire and Rebellion fly in the name of their beliefs, Scum pilots have little concern for political conflicts. Rather than declare allegiance to one side or another, they are only concerned with one thing: profit, no matter how it’s obtained. And no one in the galaxy is better at tracking down their quarry and collecting the reward than the infamous Boba Fett.

The Slave I Expansion Pack includes a beautifully pre-painted ship miniature along with a maneuver dial and all the ship cards and upgrade cards you need to supplement your squadron with this versatile ship. In addition, the Slave I Expansion Pack contains a few entirely new cards that have never before appeared in the game’s first edition. These new cards and associated punchboard are included in the Scum and Villainy Conversion Kit for the benefit of veteran players!
