This second look at Luca Guadagnino’s remake delves into the occult elements of the story, and three women that hold a lot of power – Mater Lachrymarum (Our Lady of Tears), Mater Suspiriorum (Our Lady of Sighs), and Mater Tenebrarum (Our Lady of Darkness).

The Three Mothers – and truth about the dance company Suzy Bannion (played by Dakota Johnson) has joined – come into focus in this new trailer. The director has made his own movie here, but it does hark back to Argento’s psychedelic horror classic in ways that fans will appreciate. He mentioned in a recent interview with THR (the whole interview is worth your time) that he is aiming to truly terrify his audience…

I hope that the movie comes across as a relentless experience that’s going to go deep into your skin all the way down into your spine. I want the movie to perform as the most disturbing experience you can have. The movie is about being immersed in a world of turmoil and uncompromising darkness.

I’m looking forward to experiencing his interpretation.

Suspiria arrives in theaters November 2nd.
