Arkham Horror: The Card Game is heading back to Dunwich to face down the threat of the Old Ones once again with Return to the Dunwich Legacy from Fantasy Flight Games!

A new upgrade expansion has been announced by Fantasy Flight Games for Arkham Horror: The Card Game. Return to the Dunwich Legacy brings you back to the first mythos cycle but adds new twists and challenges along the way. This 104 card expansion adds new locations, brutal new treacheries, and upgrades to your investigator’s existing card pool. Plus there are new achievements to shoot for a premium card box and 32 dividers to help keep track of all your cards.

In The Dunwich Legacy, you experienced your first full-length campaign for Arkham Horror: The Card Game, delving into eldritch mysteries while facing unknowable evil over the course of eight distinct scenarios. Now, Return to the Dunwich Legacy invites you to re-open your old cases and experience this thrilling campaign with fresh eyes as you encounter new challenges and new surprises.

If you’ve played The Dunwich Legacy campaign before then you know it’s already a solid campaign. But for some of the more hardcore players out there this new upgrade set ups the stakes and offers a new spin on this dangerous trek through Dunwich.

For example, fans of the game might remember the Essex County Express scenario – aka The Train Car Game. This one had you attempting to save passengers and yourself as the train’s engine had stalled. Some unnatural beasts were moving from car to car, devouring anything they found along the way. But now for a new twist those little beasts have been replaced by a massive new beast!

One of my favorite features of these “Return to” upgrade expansions is the addition of achievements. These are specific challenges that are just bragging rights and nothing more – but they are a fun twist on the game. If you’ve played through the campaign then you probably know the pain the of Whippoorwills. Now you can earn the Bird Hunting achievement by defeating three of them in a single turn! That’s tougher than it sounds…

And for the truly hardcore players out there the upgrade expansion also adds new Ultimatums. These are variants that up the ante and test your skills to the limit. For example there is one option that causes you to shuffle weakness cards back into your deck or challenges you to play the campaign without gaining any experience points! That’s just brutal.

Return to the Dunwich Legacy hits shelves later this year in Q4 – so keep an eye out for the next challenge from Arkham Horror: The Card Game!

You thought the cases were closed, relegated to a past that was best left forgotten. Beginning with a search for two missing Miskatonic University professors, your inquiries in The Dunwich Legacy launched you on a campaign that led from the decrepit streets of Dunwich to the infamous Clover Club and realms beyond. But questions from these strange investigations still linger, compelling you to board the train to Dunwich once more.

Across this expansion’s 81 new scenario cards and 23 new player cards, you’ll explore new locations, face more ghastly treacheries, and enhance your investigator’s abilities as you face even more unspeakable terrors.
