FFG: ‘The Secret Name’ Announced for Arkham Horror TCG

4 Minute Read
Nov 6 2018

The first Mythos Pack for the The Circle Undone cycle has been announced. The Secret Name will have investigators taking on the Silver Twilight Lodge with some brand new dual-class tools in their arsenal.

The Circle Undone is the next Mythos Cycle for Arkham Horror: TCG – that means it’s the next “box” expansion for the game and it launches the new story arc for the game. In this story, investigators are going to be engaging the Silver Twilight Lodge in an attempt to uncover and stop whatever machinations they have implementing.

For Arkham Horror fans, you’ll remember the Silver Twilight Lodge from other various games and stories. But for the uninitiated, they are a secret society mostly made-up of Arkham’s elite and weathly businessmen. However, they aren’t just a social club and they have been dabbling in powers that demand certain prices be paid.

The Secret Name continues that story line and picks-up after the events of The Circle Undone. Now, we’re not going to spoil the story here, but we are going to take a look at some of the new items and cards that are going to be added to the player’s pool. The true enemies of Arkham are closing in on the investigators – but you’ll be ready for them…

As a new cycle begins, you will need new tools to battle unholy forces far more powerful than yourself. You will have to stretch your mind beyond what you had previously thought possible and learn from your allies to become stronger, faster, and smarter than your enemy. To help you with this task, you’ll find a brand-new type of player card in The Secret Name—cards that break boundaries and belong to more than one class. These cards, identified by their golden hue and dual class icons, can be added to your deck if you have access to either of the classes detailed on the card.

These new cards are dual-class cards – if your investigator can use either class card, they can add them to their deck! However, if an investigator has limited access to one of the classes on these cards, then it does occupy a limited slot for them. Ashcan Pete, for example, can include Tennessee Sour Mash in his deck as a Survivor. However, because it’s also a rogue card and he can only have up to 5 level zero cards from other classes, this card takes up one of those slots.

Personally, I’ve very curious to see how the rest of these card work and I want to get a closer look at the rules for them and how their deck building restrictions work. These new dual-class cards could really open up some neat possibilities for the investigators. I’m also very aware that as the arsenal of cards for players gets more powerful, challenges facing the players also increase. This is Arkham Horror – there is no “easy mode” in here!

The Secret Name $14.95

Following the events of The Circle Undone, you are desperate to find more information about the dangerous new coven of that has taken up residence in Arkham. Such knowledge is difficult to come by, even in a place like Arkham, but you do know of one witch whose story has been passed down for nearly two hundred years: Keziah, who escaped from the Salem Gaol back in the late 1600’s and whose ghost still supposedly haunts the condemned Witch House in French Hill. With many questions and few leads, you have no choice but to chase the ghosts of Arkham’s past.

As a new cycle begins, you will need new tools to help you battle these unholy forces. To help you with this task, some of the new player cards in The Secret Name belong to more than one class. These cards, which can be identified by their golden hue and dual class icons in the upper right corner of the card, can be added to your investigator’s deck if you have access to either of the classes detailed on the card. If, however, an investigator has limited access to one of the classes on a multiclass card, that card will occupy one of the investigator’s limited slots, even if they have unlimited access to the other class detailed on the card. But with diverse uses and powerful effects, they make a worthy addition to any investigator’s arsenal.
