Following in the power-armored footsteps of the Crimson Fists before them, the Imperial Assassins are getting an Index in March’s White Dwarf. So get your priority-target papers in order, and get ready for the Officio Assassinorum.

It’s not even February yet and already we’re not only seeing details spoiled from the White Dwarf, but we’re getting a glimpse into the future of 40K–all the way to the distant time of March. In this strange, and if we’re being honest, forboding and unknowable future, where cheeseburgers come wi-fi enabled with a built-in app to help you track where they are in your digestive system and corporations that make robots that are capable of arguing about the balance of competitive rules as ineffectively as an actual human–in this grim, dark future of a world a little over a month from now, you will find the Index: Imperial Assassins.

Spotted on the internet, first from a Competitive 40K Reddit Thread that leaked the new bolter rules, hidden among debates about whether storm bolters always getting 4 shots if they’re on a biker means that it might be worth it to take them, or whether this is a buff to Death Watch or Marines across the board, is a leaked image of the upcoming Index.

This is probably going to end poorly for some of the Thousand Sons–but not as poorly as you might expect. At least as things stand now, which is why it’s welcome news that the Imperial Assassins are getting an index. They’re a faction that, character targeting rules shenanigans aside, don’t really see that much use on the board. They’re…fine as it is, and you can do a few annoying things, but do you really want your assassins to be running around taking shots that other characters should be taking? That doesn’t really fit with the flavor of them. They’re in an interesting position that makes it difficult for them to fill out their intended role.

But a new Index might help them do exactly that. This is only lightly charted water, though. We have only the Crimson Fists template to  go off of… so we put the question to you:

Is an Index enough to help Imperial Assassins get where they need to be? How would you fix them, assuming they even need fixing in your estimation? Let us know in the comments!
