4 Minute Read
Feb 6 2019

Star Wars: Legion is getting a new Rebel Commander with the arrival of Jyn Erso. Meet the commander that gave the Rebels a fighting chance to stop the Death Star and learn how see how she’ll play on the tabletop.

Jyn Erso has had rough life. But her hard upbringing has forged a field commander who isn’t afraid to leave it all on the line and sacrifice for ultimate victory. Today we’re taking a closer look at her on the tabletop in Star Wars: Legion!

Although her time with the Rebellion was short, Erso’s contribution to the Rebel cause was significant. In addition to playing a leading role in stealing the Death Star plans, she also helped the disparate factions of the Rebel Alliance coalesce into a unified fighting force for the first time. Soon, Jyn Erso will be able to lead your Rebel strike teams into the battles of the Galactic Civil War with the Jyn Erso Commander Expansion for Star Wars™: Legion!

Jyn is just as good at dealing damage as she is at avoiding it. She has quite a few abilities that really suit her playstyle and match her background. Quick Thinking grants her an aim token and a dodge tokens. Danger Sense actually makes her suppression tokens an asset instead of a hindrance (although having them still isn’t great). She also has Infiltrate which will allow her to pop-up just outside of range 3 of enemy units when deploying. And if that wasn’t enough, she also has Nimble, Sharpshooter 1, and Suppressive!

Her weapon options are also a little misleading. Her Collapsible Tonfa is no joke with 4 black dice for her attack. But you’ll note the lack of a Ranged option. However, that’s because her weapon is a tad more modular and has it’s own card with TWO sides:

The A-180 Rifle Config is range 1-3 and is 2 black dice and 1 white per attack. It also has Pierce 1 and when you recover, you can swap the card over for…

The A-180 Pistol Config. This version swaps out the the black die for two red dice. Depending on what you’re attacking you can choose the option that works best for you.

Commander Cards

As a commander, Jyn Erso comes with her three commander cards. Rebellious is her 1 pip card. It gives her Charge and allows her to get the jump on an enemy by taking a Suppression token. That grants her the option to either attack an enemy before it’s Rally step or a free move action.

Complete the Mission is her 3 pip card. It grants her the Low Profile ability and allows her to add and/or remove Suppression tokens on friendly Troopers that are issued an order.

And finally we have Trust Goes Both Ways. As her 2 pip card, this one allows her and 1 other trooper unit to activate. It gives Jyn the Inspire 2 ability and when she gives an order to another friendly trooper that unit also gains Teamwork: Jyn Erso.

Jyn is going to be a front line commander and will pair very nicely with the Rebel Pathfinder units coming soon. Keep an eye out for her in Q1 of this year!

Jyn Erso Commander Expansion $12.95

The shadow of the Death Star looms across the galaxy, threatening any planet that doesn’t fall in line with the Empire. Only those brave—and perhaps foolish—enough to stand against the Empire can hope to save the galaxy from this technological terror. Raised by the extremist Saw Gerrera and on her own from a young age, Jyn Erso embodies both of these qualities. Reckless and aggressive, Erso is nonetheless a brave leader who can contribute to your Star Wars: Legion  battle plans in many ways.

Within the Jyn Erso Commander Expansion, you’ll find one finely sculpted, easily assembled Jyn Erso miniature to lead your Rebel army into battle, complete with three new command cards. Along with Jyn Erso, you’ll find the associated unit card and four upgrade cards for you to enhance Jyn Erso and your other units.
