Goatboy here again and let me take you on a trip down Memory lane.  We are going to remake a classic 40K powerlist for 2019.

Back in the day there was a feared list known as Nidzilla.   This was before the days of yearly FAQs, point adjustments, and preview reveals.  This was during that glorious time when people would get lashed into circles, Eldar had tanks you could never kill, and a circle on the table meant no one could see you behind it.

Back When Tyranids Ruled the Tabletop

The list that struck the fear in a lot of people was the then current math hammering Nidzilla that used a crap ton of cheap monsters, mutated bullets, and murdered you thru failed saving throws.  Nidzilla was the first army I played when I came back to the game after a hiatus due to marriage, life, and divorce.  It is also one of those lists I have a fond memory for as its full of big monsters doing big monster stuff.

Pepperidge Farms remembers…

This of course leads me into how every edition I try to find my Nidzilla list.  The army full of big monsters, big attitudes, and hopefully a better than average winning capability.  Currently the only type of list that could be similar is some of the Daemon Prince builds you have seen.  They are full of monsters, cheap troops, and maybe some ability to win.  You could also call a lot of the majority Knight lists as well a version of it – but Knights are in a weird breed in that they are not cheap and feel almost too big to really be considered a Nidzilla variety.

Move Over Bugs, Chaos is the New Black

Now of course this has all changed with the addition of a few key ingredients in the new Chaos Space Marine army list.  The addition of upgraded Daemon Engines, powerful Aura help, and the lovely keyword Daemon to a lot of the options means that I can maybe actually get a new version working well enough to let me have some fun.  Or at the very least let me play a few Maulerfiends on the table top.

The obviously glue with this list is the Daemon Keyword, The Lord Discordant, and my desire to bring 3 Maulerfiends to the table top.  It also throws in some other things, tries to generate some Command points, and maybe just maybe do something interesting in a game or two.  With that – let’s get started.  I think we need an alright number of Command Points due to needing the Specialist Detachment Soul Forge on one of them as well as just trying to get some milage out of the Stratagems that can be used.  Plus I need all the space I can get to fit in my my damned monsters on the table top.

Tactics

This army is basically a Giant brick of Machines built to move up, hit something, and maybe shoot ok.  The Spiders can be farther back and have a decent set of shooting with 6d3 Strength 10 shots hitting on 3’s rerolling 1’s.  You have Maulerfiends that can have a decent amount info attacks as well as two Lord Discordants that can push some damage thru.  Mix this all up with some cool spells, extra attacks, and crazy damage potential and you got something that could work.  Or fail amazingly well.  This is the first list I plan on making and playing with in coming months as the Lord Discordants finally come out.

Ok that is it for now – next week who knows what I will try to throw together.  The new Keeper of Secrets looks amazing and if she is any good she could show up in this list to take some souls from those pesky eldar.  Or I could figure out a way to make Heldrakes work again.

~Until next time – Death to the False Emperor.
