The Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter Expansion for X-Wing is coming soon! Come see what tricks this sleek starfighter has up it’s sleeve.

A new Republic ship is docking with this preview from Fantasy Flight Games. Say hello to the Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter!

Within this expansion, you’ll find one finely detailed Naboo Royal N-1 starfighter miniature painted in the iconic yellow and chrome finish, accompanied by all the cards and tokens you need to add it to your Galactic Republic squadrons. Among these are six pilots who each bring their own approach to flying the ship as well as seven upgrades inviting you to outfit your N-1 starfighter however you choose. Finally, two Quick Build cards offer helpful combinations of pilots and upgrades, letting you get your N-1 starfighter into battle as quickly as possible.

Meet The Pilots

First up we have a new Ace with Ric Olie. Clocking in at initiative 5, Ric has a knack for wanting to go fast. If you can manage to stay on the top end of the throttle, Ric agains an additional die when defending using a primary attack.

The Ship itself has a 2 die primary, 2 agility, 3 hull and 2 shields. It’s action bar is also pretty solid. Not a bad starfighter at all. Couple that with the ship ability to go “Full Throttle” and you’ve got the makings of a nimble and evasive ship.

At initiative 4 we have Anakin Skywalker. His ability allows you to pull off an additional barrel roll at the cost of your 1 force token (which regens anyway). Something-something pod-racing. Something-something Skywalker.

Dinee Ellegerger has an initiative of 3 and can mess with your opponent’s dice when attacking or defending – if you speed matches. This could lead to some pretty interesting games of “guess my maneuver” and some good counter play.

These last two ships are somewhat intertwined. Say hello to Padme Amidala and her Handmaiden:

You don’t have to run them together as Amidala’s ability is pretty solid on her own. However if you do you get the added benefit of the Decoy Condition:

This really makes flying in formation very useful.

For all those folks out there who want to use the Naboo Starfighter Aces like Ric or Elleberger to their full effect, you might want to consider the R2-A6 droid who can help you adjust your speed up or down.

The Naboo Starfighter is slated for a release date around June 6th with the rest of the Wave IV expansions!

Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter Expansion Pack $19.95

Sleek and agile, the Naboo Royal N-1 is well-suited to its role as a diplomatic escort for that planet’s ambassadors. Beneath the gleaming chromium of its elegant spaceframe are advanced Nubian engines further customized by the Theed Palace Engineering Corps, making the N-1 one of the fastest starfighters of its time.

In addition to the beautifully detailed and pre-painted Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter miniature, this expansion contains six ship cards, seven upgrade cards that give you greater control over its prodigious speed, and the tokens and maneuver dial you need to defend Naboo or any other planet.

Normally, this is where I’d put in a fun quote from the movie. But I can’t think of any. So here’s Weird Al recapping the Phantom Menace in musical form:
