Help me pick the list to use to bring my Movie Marine Army to life!

Last week when talking about going to the upcoming North American GT, put on by GW itself, I brought up my idea for making Movie Marines in 8th. The idea is pretty simple: take ten Space Marine Captains in one army. These heroic figures represent your standard group of ten Space Marines (either one ten man squad or two five-man squads) you often read about in fiction or see in video games. By taking Captains that “count as” normal Marines we can better represent the fluff of Marines on the table top, and create a battle where ten marines face off against an army. Today I’ve come up with three versions of the army I’m considering taking, and I’d like your input on what I should build and play.

Option 1: The Boarding Party- AKA SPACE HULK – The List

Supreme Command Detachment (Blood Angels) 596pts (4th Company Close Support Squad “Hammer of Baal”Captain [105pts] w/Jump Pack [19pts], Master-crafted boltgun [3pts], Relic blade [9pts]

Option 1: The Boarding Party- AKA SPACE HULK – The Idea

The idea behind this list is to represent something of a boarding force. The list represents a Close Support Squad, which the Blood Angels favor, made up of mixed Jump Packs and Bike troops, for fast and deadly close combat ability. It also contains a ‘Terminator’ Squad and their arming servitors in their Caestus Assault Ram. This force would ideal breach a target’s defenses, allowing the close support squad to mop up. The list also includes some Scout units. I didn’t want to take them originally, but at the end of the day, I was down about 200 and needed to fill it with something. By taking the Scouts, I not only get extra CP from having a Battalion, but don’t have to burn a CP to take the Caestus. I’m rationalizing the Scouts as being Chapter Serfs supporting the boarding actions (thus the shotguns) rather than actual Scouts or Marines.

Option 2: The Veterans – The List

Supreme Command Detachment (Blood Angels) [546pts]

Captain [86pts] w/ Master-crafted boltgun [3pts], Relic blade [9pts] – (The Sargent)  – Artisan of War

Total 1727 pts 10/10 cp

Option 2: The Veterans – The Idea

This list is intended to represent a ten man squad of blooded Veterans as you might see in a movie or novel. Each of the ten is uniquely equipped and fills an archetype.  Now, in any good action movie the heroes squad is going to call in some air support at some point, so instead of a transport we’ve got a Fire Raptor for that close in support. Again I’ve had to take some Scouts to fill points. Like the prior list, I’ve opted to make this list Blood Angels because I think it’s the chapter that gives the most to a bunch of characters like this. Overall I think this list has more flavor than the prior list, but is less optimized.

Option 3: The Hero’s of Rynn’s World- The List

Supreme Command Detachment  (Space Marines) [569pts]

Captain [98pts] w/ Master-crafted boltgun [3pts], Thunder hammer [21pts]

Captain [86pts] w/ Master-crafted boltgun [3pts], Relic blade [9pts] – Relic (Primarch’s Wrath)

Captain on Bike [111pts] w/ Chainsword, Thunder hammer [21pts], Twin boltgun [2pts]- Relic (Teeth of Terra)- Tenacious Opponent

Pedro Kantor [150pts] – (Counts As Sargent)

Supreme Command Detachment (Space Marines) [634pts]

Captain in Cataphractii Armor [127pts] w/ Combi-plasma [11pts], Thunder hammer [21pts]

Captain in Cataphractii Armor [127pts] w/ Combi-plasma [11pts], Thunder hammer [21pts]

Thunderbolt Heavy Fighter [215pts ]w 2x Twin autocannon [50pts], Twin lascannon [40pts]

Pts 1748 3/6 CP

Option 3: The Hero’s of Rynn’s World- The Idea

This list is a little different. Moving away from the Blood Angels, I’ve got an idea for a Crimson Fists list. This list represents a couple of squads fighting in defense of Rynn’s World. With the Crimson Fists almost wiped out Kantor has chosen to split the remainder up to small elite units. This list represents a five-man tactical squad, with some extra equipment due to the nature of their task, supported by a five-man Terminator squad. I’ve handed out a lot of Thunder Hammers in this list and am counting on the Crimson Fists Chapter Tactic to make them more effective. I’ve also got Kantor himself, though in this case, he is counting as a Sargent. Lastly, the Airwing represents the first elements of the Imperial Navy’s relief force arriving on Rynn’s World to turn the tide. You might question why I’m taking an unarmed Arvus Lighter, the answer to that is: it’s all I had points for! It can, however, help run interference for my characters, so it’s got that.

Alright folks, let me know which list you like best, down in the comments!
