If you’ve felt like the summer has been missing a wall to wall action movie with car chases, slow-mo gun fights, and quippy one liners – this Fast & Furious spin off is for you.

The team-up movie Fast & Furious fans have been asking for is a reality – with John Wick‘s David Leitch at the helm with a script is penned by Fast & Furious veteran Chris Morgan. This movie should make F&F fans (and everyone that likes over the top action movies starring Dwayne Johnson) happy – it’s got swagger, humor, and over the top action from actors having a great time doing it.

This is not to be taken seriously. Drop any pretensions at the door, grab a big tub of popcorn with butter, and enjoy the ride.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their characters from the F&F movies; they are joined by Idris Elba as the main villain, Vanessa Kirby, Eiza González, and Eddie Marsan. Morgan’s story – he’s written 6 movies for the franchise – sounds like a perfect fit for the universe. The official synopsis:

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down. But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.

Hobbs & Shaw explodes into theaters August 2nd.
