Necrons are interested in all things Apocalypse. After all, what’s the use of rising from your tomb-worlds if you can’t drown the galaxy in numberless swarms.

We’re back with another look at the factions of the Apocalypse. Today we’ve got a look at the Necrons, who are surging forth from their ancient slumber to claim the territories that are rightfully theirs. As long as they can get the Adeptus Mechanicus to stop drilling for just like, five minutes. It’s so loud you guys.

The Necrons were once a dominant force in the galaxy, their technology so advanced that they could make or destroy the stars themselves. Now roused in ever-increasing numbers after countless millennia of slumber, they are once more looking beyond the borders of their crownworlds to reclaim that which was theirs. With a Necron army in Apocalypse, you’ll unleash a vast legion of machine-warriors, arcane technology and the otherworldly cosmic powers to the ruin of your enemies.

And as you’ve come to expect from the Necrons in 40K, they have a mixture of powerful weaponry and a surprising amount of resilience. Though for Apocalypse you won’t find Reanimation Protocols, instead you’ll find that the defining ability of the Necrons is their living metal necrodermis, which functions basically the same.

This combos well with the way that Apocalypse interprets damage, enabling even critically damaged units to return to full fighting strength if they’re not completely wiped out. Necron Units are generally about how you’d expect, with the Necron weaponry, by and large, being slightly better at taking out personnel than tanks, with a few notable exceptions. Monoliths are a beast and a half.

Even units like the C’tan (transcendant or bound in a tesseract vault) wield their powers as just other weapons. Their unique powers are saved for Command Assets:

Or if you’d rather avoid targeting a single character and rolling a 1, you can wield something like Entropic Plague to take down your opponent’s heaviest hitters.

The Necrons are shaping up to have a number of sneaky tricks they can bring to the table. So get ready to face the power of Living Metal and star gods as the Necrons surge forth for the Apocalypse.

Living Metal sounds like a documentary that follows metalheads around as they just go through their day jobs and other mundane things.
