Chaos Knights are here, and we’re taking a look at their Houses, and how you can build a Dreadblade all your own.

That’s right friends, today we’re looking at the Houses of the Heretics, whether they are vainly clinging on to the glories they once upheld, or have given themselves to the utter depravity of the Dark Mechanicum, Chaos Knights get some powerful benefits for sticking to tradition. And after we take a look at what the Houses do, we’ll look at the rules for making your own Dreadblade. First though, the table of contents:

Chaos Knights is a thinner codex than most. At 72 pages, there’s not too much to cram in here, but then Chaos Knights are a streamlined (but more evil) version of the menageris of mechanical monstrosities in the Imperal Knights codex. Where there are multiple Knight Houses, the Questor Traitoris get only two.

They can choose to belong to an Iconoclast Household, in which case they’ll be better suited to getting into the fight–their already considerable abilities increase both in terms of number of attacks and AP when they get a charge (or are charged).

But if you’d prefer the loving embrace of the Dark Mechanicum, and to draw upon the ruinous power of the Warp to upgrade, enhance, and possess your Knight, then you’ll be able to call upon a Daemonic Surge in order to gain a powerful ability. You will almost certainly be trading a d3 mortal wounds to take Daemonic Power though, because getting a bonus to strength and damage seems like it’s the way to go. Now as a bonus, here are the Dreadblade Rules we’ve seen so far:

These are basically the Chaos equivalent of Freeblades. Combine all of these with the Warlord traits, artefacts, and your favorite stratagems to create your own custom Chaos Knight.

Good luck, Chaos Princeps!
