The Witcher Saga has a global following. The novels have been translated into over 20 languages, and it’s inspired a popular video game franchise. Now it’s getting its own series on Netflix.

Netflix has just started dropping images (let’s pretend that bad wig photo never happened) from the series. Take a look at Henry Cavill as Geralt, Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as the sorceress Yennefer.

Writer Andrzej Sapkowski is signed on to the creative team as a consultant – a position he wasn’t afforded when The Hexer was made in the early aughts. Executive producers on the project are Sean Daniel and Jason (both worked on The Expanse). Not much is known on where they will take fans (rumor is they are covering the books over multiple seasons), but the execs have a reverence for the source material:

“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”

The Witcher will stream on Netflix – no date has been set, but I have a feeling we’ll learn more during SDCC later this month.
