Founder of Flying Buffalo Games, creator of Nuclear Destruction and US Army Vet, Rick Loomis will be missed.

Rick Loomis was recently hospitalized while fighting cancer. Friends and family started a GoFundMe campaign to attempt to assist with the medical expenses. He died August 23, 2019, just a day before his 73 birthday.

Loomis was perhaps most well known for designing several play-by-mail games, which were indirectly targeted towards deployed army folk. Nuclear Destruction was launched in 1970 and moderated the games and later incorporated a computer to help with the coordination, all while still serving in the military.

Loomis is also credited with producing the Catalyst RPG content books like Grimtooth’s Traps and CityBooks for Flying Buffalo.

Flying Buffalo also set up a Kickstarter campaign to revive the Ace of Aces gamebooks.

Loomis is additionally credited with games like the diplomatic Starweb and the solitaire fantasy RPG, Tunnels and Trolls.

Rick Loomis was a great driving force for tabletop games during their early development as well as through modern day. He will be missed. Our condolences go out to his friends and family.
