Wendy’s, a fast-food establishment, is teaming up with Critical Role, a D&D establishment, to bring you a one-shot adventure. What even is real anymore.

You read that right folks. Wendy’s, the very same fast-food franchise noted for helping people find the beef, square burgers, and tweets so relevant they’ll make you forget that they offer something they consider “chili”, but is pretty much unidentifiable.

Hah. It almost makes you forget that they’re the only of the five big national fast food chains that hasn’t joined the program that benefits the rights of farmworkers and protects against wage theft and other kinds of exploitation. Controversy aside, though, those tweets are pretty good.

Wendy’s and Arby’s have both been pretty good about locking down that geeky angle, with Wendy’s having made a special level inย Mario Maker as well as putting a Wendy’s on a Boat on the water. Soon, Wendy’s will be claiming the realms of D&D (or some kind of Fantasy RPG) by teaming up with Critical Role to bring you a one shot adventure, DM’d by Sam Reigel, a man who has won an Emmy and dressed like this:

The Emmy was for outstanding direction of an animated series, if you’re wondering. At any rate, this past Sunday, Wendy’s suggested that the Realm Needs Heroes.

Somebody call Tristan Tzara and Hugo Ball because reality needs them once again. Assuming they’re not somehow secretly behind this. At any rate, it all goes down on October 3rd, which is the day after this article is published. Whatever is actually happening is beyond anyone’s comprehension–some secrets humanity wasn’t meant to know, and for a reason, but we’ll all be going on this journey together, with Sam Riegel lighting the way.

It’s more than just Wendy’s for Critical Role these days, though. The team of voice actors, best friends, and Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts have made a name for themselves, with their recent record-shattering Kickstarter that will see the creation of an animated series inspired by an arc of their first campaign. Or their independent studio which they’ve developed since parting ways with Geek and Sundry, that has seen them spread their wings and fly with other partners.

Like their recent deals with Funko Pop, McFarlane Toys, Penguin Random House, and Ripple Junction. Soon you’ll see Critical Role novels and books, apparel, and Funk Pop! figures, including McFarlane Toys action figures of the beloved characters of a D&D campaign, living out the ultimate dream of any gamer–well maybe the penultimate dream of any gamer, as of press time, they hadn’t somehow been magically transported to the world of their campaign, where they have to draw on their own knowledge, expertise, and the power of friendship to save the world, and learn a little something about each other.

Happy Adventuring!
