The Psychic Awakening is heading to Baal for the third chapter in this saga – It’s Blood Angels vs Tyranids again.

Games Workshop dropped a teaser for Part 3 of Psychic Awakening: Blood And Talons. The Blood Angels are looking for some payback vs the Tyranids…at least I hope that’s the plan because it didn’t go so well for them last time.

The Devastation of Baal

For those of you who don’t know here’s a quick summary. The Blood Angels and their Successors were almost wiped out but were spared by the Great Rift. While the Blood Angels were finally reinforced by the arrival of the Indomitus Crusade, it was the intervention of Chaos, specifically the Bloothirster Ka’Bandha, who truly saved the Blood Angels that day.

Round 2?

The Blood Angels were granted a reprieve from destruction at the hands of the Tyranids and now GW is setting up a rematch with Psychic Awakening 3. I’m not really sure why we’re revisiting this particular fight however because we know how it plays out. But I don’t think this is going to be another Battle of Baal. Is Games Workshop positioning the Blood Angels as Tyranid Hunters? Are they about to crusade across the galaxy battling the Hive Fleets of the Tyranids? Baal is not exactly in the best shape at the end of that story line – so what’s the plan?

The Tyranids are also known to avoid conflicts where the gains aren’t worth the losses. The Blood Angels proved Baal to be a very costly sector to try to devour. At this point, wouldn’t the Hive Mind just avoid that meal for easier prey? Especially with the intervention of Daemons – which don’t provide biomass anyhow.

I’m not sure if Blood and Talons is going to be a 1v1 conflict anyhow. Ka’Bandha certainly seems to want to get involved in that fight as well. Could we possibly see Chaos Daemons get in on this action when Round 2 kicks off?

As a fan of both Blood Angels and Tyranids, I’m glad that these two armies are getting some attention. The Blood Angels now have Primaris Marines so maybe it’s time for them to cut their teeth. I wonder what tricks the Tyranids will have to counter them. I’m just wondering why GW is deciding to stage another fight between the two, again. This fight is not going to end well for either of them  – and maybe that’s the point.

What do you think is going to happen in Blood and Talons? Are we heading back to Baal or are the Blood Angels about to go on a revenge-spree?
