Warhammer 40K: Psychic Awakening FAQs – Phoenix Edition

Whether we’re talking about the Blood of the Phoenix or the fact that that Phoenix is Rising, there are FAQs to clarify those new psychic rules.

Psychic Awakening feels like it’s ramping up into full swing now, with Faith and Fury and Phoenix Rising out in the wild, and Blood of Baal not too far off. The game might be changing, but the players are the same. Just y’know psychically awakened. And to help document the new changes, we’re taking a look at the new errata that have just been released today. Blood of the Phoenix and Phoenix Rising both have put out some errata, so let’s take a look and see what’s different.

First things first, let’s take a look at Blood of the Phoenix. There’s just one piece of errata here, regarding Drazhar that casts him in a powerful new light. It seems he can fight twice before other units if he charges and your opponents don’t fight first.

That makes him pretty deadly against unprepared units–or a fantastic character assassin if you can position him just right. Now let’s take a look at what’s changed for Phoenix Rising. Most of the clarifications seem to revolve around the new Exarch powers:

There’s a few different things to digest here. Warp Spiders and Crimson Hunters get some attention:

While the errata correct a few things like Obsessive Collectors or Experimental Creations, the FAQs clear up how some of the rules work. Like the Witch Strike power, manifested by a Warlock Conclave with more than one model:

And you cannot use Exemplar of the ___ Shrine shenanigans to swap out your original abilities on top of taking a new Exarch power.
