Warhammer: The Old World is coming back…eventually. And these are the models we want to see make a comeback!

Games Workshop’s return to the Old World is still years away and we’re hoping that when it does come back, GW will release some fantastic models to go with it. Will they re-release the old models or will they create re-imagined versions of these? We’re not sure! All we do know is that we’d like to see them come back to the tabletop in some form or fashion. That said, here’s our list of the 5 models we miss the most from the Old World.

Necrosphinx

This model needs to make a comeback. As different and stunning as it was, it didn’t survive the End Times and that’s really one of the big downers for the Necrosphinx.  If this model was re-released (maybe with a round base) it would be right at home in modern AoS. So, if GW is returning to the Old World, we’re assuming the Tomb Kings are going to make an appearance. We just hope the Necrosphinx does too!

Green Knight

The Green Knight was such an icon model. Was he a good guy or a bad guy? He was a mysterious figure to be sure and it wasn’t quite clear until the End Times. Regardless, this model had such a good pose for the range and it always stood out when compared to the other knights – specifically Bretonnian Knights. We here at BoLS miss this model and want to see it come back!

Settra

When the Tomb Kings were “retired” the number of skeletal horse drawn chariots dropped by 100%. Most of those losses were due to Settra going the way of the dodo bird. This is one of those models that could look really stunning if GW went back and redesigned it as well. Settra himself isn’t bad, but the skeletal horses and parts of the chariot could really use an update. Whatever GW does, we hope they bring this one back!

Orion

Orion might have died in the post-End Times Mortal Realms. But he lives on with the Sylvaneth. That said, it would be cool to see this model make a come back in the Old World. Personally, I’d like to see him in more of an action/attack pose vs the “calling-the-wild-hunt” pose he’s in. I’d love to see what the sculptors at GW could do with this concept and modernize it with the technology they have now. Even his hunting hounds could use a touch-up. But hey, if we just get this old model back, I’d probably be okay with that, too.

Anvil of Doom

Yeah, we’re going even older than old world with this one. The Anvil of Doom used to be on wheels before it became the static forge model. And the Magmic Battleforge of the Fyreslayers is basically that concept but taken to the extreme of AoS. Personally, I’d rather see them go back to the days when the Anvil was MASSIVE and was wheel around the battlefield like some type of lightning shooting dwarf buggy of death. I’d LOVE to see what modern sculptors at GW could do with this type of concept. Would it be a tad silly? Well, yes – just like the Old World.

Bonus: Nagash

Never forget.
