The Psychic Awakening is spreading. We know which factions are going to be involved in the next chapter, but who will be the major players?

When GW hosted the Warhammer 40,000 Open Day, they revealed the next three chapters of Psychic Awakening. They also showed off which factions are next: Thousand Sons, Dark Angels, and Grey Knights. They put out this teaser to confirm it.

So who are the Major Players and who would we like to see? Let’s start with the easy ones first – The Thousand Sons.

Forces of Chaos

There are really only two options for the Thousand Sons major characters and that’s Magnus and Ahriman. Considering the fact that most of the Thousand Sons are pretty much dust, it kind of limits their potential. That said, one of the things we’d like to see from Ritual of the Damned would be to see some new Thousand Sons characters! Believe it or not, they do actually have a roster of possible characters that aren’t dust and it would be nice to see a new Thousand Sons model/character pop-up.

I’m so lonely…

The Imperial Forces

The Dark Angels will be in the book and we’ve got thoughts on them! Which characters should be involved? Which secrets should be revealed? Who’s going to get the Primaris Treatment?! Are we going to see new Primaris Deathwing Units?!?!?! Today, however, we’re just focusing on which characters we’d like to see. We’ve already talked about the three “new” characters from the White Dwarf that could be made into Primaris versions of existing Ravenwing, Deathwing, and even the Inner Circle. Lazarus, for example, is the Master of the 5th Company and was converted to a Primaris Marine. It would be cool to see a new character model for him as a Primaris Marine.

Obviously, we’d like to see the Lion return as well. I think the Imperium could use another Primarch if for no other reason than to challenge Guilliman’s ideas. Not that they would butt heads, but some internal strife would be nice to keep things interesting.

Other than a new Primaris Character or a Primarch, there are still the stable of older Dark Angel Miniatures that could use some love. A new Azrael, Ezekiel, or Asmodai would be a welcome sight! Azrael in particular could use an update just to make him a bit more imposing. He’s the Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels and he is just such a small presence on the tabletop – physically – now.

As for the Grey Knights and their characters – wow, where do we start? Their current Grand Master Kaldor Draigo is able to stay in real-space for longer periods which is nice. I’m hoping he shows up for this brawl vs the Thousand Sons. But they also have a pretty deep roster of heroes that could get new models and some love, too. Brother-Captain Stern was a fan favorite. Personally, I’ve always been a fan of Vorth Mordrak and his haunted brothers – think that he should get a new model for Psychic Awakening. Catellan Crowe is another Grey Knight character that could be an interesting option for an update. Plus the theme of the book is the Ritual of the Damned, and he’s kind of Damned in a unique way as he has to guard a daemon sword.

Then, of course, there is the other option of introducing a completely new character to the mix infused with the Primaris Protocol goodies. I’m still not 100% sure we’ll see Primaris Grey Knights, but the Grey Knight army sure could use something to make them scary again.

What characters would you like to see make an appearance in the next Psychic Awakening book? Let us know in the comments.
