Come take a look at the new Hive Fleet Adaptation rules from the latest Psychic Awakening volume – Blood of Baal. The Tyranids have evolved!

The Hive Fleets are getting even more ways to customize their Hive Fleets. If you’ve been hoping for the “Successor Chapter” treatment for your Tyranid Hive Fleets, you’re in luck! Today, we’re taking a look at roughly 1/2 of the Hive Fleet Adaptations – and boy are these looking spicy!

Adaptive Exoskeleton give your little bugs a 6+ Invulnerable save. That’s a 16% chance to just pass whatever hits them! And when you’re running a swarm of little bugs, that could really add-up.

Bestial Nature helps your Monsters with damage charts out by adding 2 to their attacks when they are on their bottom row of their damage table. It’s an interesting ability and you’d really have to plan around this mechanic to make it truly impactful.

Bio-metallic Cysts ups the AP of Scything Talons by 1. Yep, that includes Hormagaunts…and any other bugs with the “default” Scything Talon options. Get ready for a swarm of AP -1!

Biosphere Consumption is another kind of strange boost to your Monsters units. It’s basically a 6+ FNP with some very specific boxes to tick. Exocrines and Tyrannofexes are going to get some use out of this one.

Cranial Channelling allows for a re-roll for your Psychic Tests. If you were planning on running a lot of Zoanthropes or even Hive Tyrants, this could be pretty useful.

Feeding Frenzy modifies the pile-in moves from 3″ to 6″ – this could allow you to get a lot more models into combat when they activate! Very swarm-friendly.

Horror from Beyond causes your Monsters to be so scary, they cause enemy units within 3″ to subtract 1 from their leadership.

Hypermetabolic Acceleration gives you a re-roll on your advance rolls. Genestealers are going to love this one.

Membranous Mobility causes all your Flying units to be harder to hit in Melee. Gargoyles and even Winged Hive-Tyrants with a -1 to be hit in Melee could be annoying for sure.

Again, there is another page worth of Hive Fleet Adaptations to choose from but you can already see some of the dirty tricks you can pull with the ones listed on this page. And yes, you get to choose TWO. This will really make your Hive Fleet your own and I can’t wait to start messing around with these rules myself.
