Games Workshop is dropping a new teaser for the leader of the Pointy Aelves – Teclis is returning to the tabletop and we can’t wait!

Get ready for the return of a legend – Teclis has a new model coming from Games Workshop and the artwork is looking spicy! Before we dive into that – if you didn’t know, the Pointy Aelves are coming back:

If you saw the video then you probably saw that outline of some new model on the way. Well, that’s probably Teclis. And based on the post today, that’s pretty much confirmed.

Teclis has been seen little in the Age of Sigmar – at least, so far. Did any of his aelven races aside from the Idoneth survive? Just what is going on in Hysh? Can the Mage God forgive Sigmar for corrupting his gift? Over the next few weeks, you’ll have the chance to find out. One thing is for sure though Teclis is back, and he’s looking EPIC.

That’s certainly a new look in the artwork! GW also gave us a closer look at his iconic weapons:

Those sure look familiar…

It’s a new Teclis model. This is gonna be so good!

Rules And Speculation

Teclis is the Lord of Light, the god of the Mortal Realm Hysh. How powerful does that make him? That’s a tough one to gauge. Currently, there are really only one god-like creature that has rules and a model in Age of Sigmar: Nagash. It’s debatable if you want to include Greater Daemons on that short list. There is also Archaon who undoubtedly has some god-like powers rules wise.

The Celestant-Prime isn’t a god, he’s just borrowing Sigmar’s Hammer. Even Morathi isn’t technically a god, but essentially she leads a “race” within the Mortal Realms. And what about Gordrakk, Fist of Gork? He’s more akin to an avatar of Gork than Gork himself. These are all instances where the lore and the rules get a little fuzzy.

“Ray, what do you say if someone asks if you’re a god?”

All that to circle back to the question of how powerful will Telics be? Well, he was a mighty sorcerer in his previous life. He’s been infused with the magic of light and is the god of light in the Mortal Realms. That’s got to put him somewhere in the ballpark of Nagash-level power, right? Maybe, maybe not. The rules of godhood in AoS are murky at best. Nagash’s powers come from death and souls. Where do Teclis’ power come from? Light…but how does that even work? That’s a big question that will probably get revealed later on.

As for the rules/tabletop power-level, if I had to guess, I’d peg Teclis on the tabletop somewhere between Nagash/Archaon at the top and Morathi or an Eidolon on the lower end.

There is no way he’s weaker than the Idoneth’s Eidolon, right?

But hey, that could all be smoke on the water. Teclis could be something completely different! We’ll have to wait and see. Regardless, I’m excited about the new model and a new god-creature to return to AoS! I can’t wait to see what else GW has instore. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long. GW also said they will reveal more at LVO at their Thursday seminar. That’s the 23rd of January – so next week!
