The two greatest generals in all of the Mortal Realms are facing off. Wrath of the Everchosen is going to be BIG!

You probably caught the new pre-orders coming this weekend already. But if you missed out, it’s okay – it was kind of a busy weekend. That said, today we wanted to take a bit more of a laser focus on one of the big releases coming: Wrath of the Everchosen.

via Warhammer Community

The Mortal Realms have seen a lot of shake ups over the last few books, including the Shyish necroquake and the arrival of the Ossiarch Bonereapers. Now, Wrath of the Everchosen builds on these events as the forces of Death invade the Eightpoints, home to Archaon’s murderous followers and his nigh-impenetrable fortress, the Varanspire. The clash between two of the greatest generals in all the Mortal Realms, leading two of the mightiest armies, is a spectacle to behold for every fan of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and is sure to have lasting ramifications for the rest of the realms.

Death has invaded the Eightpoints. Nagash’s forces are assaulting the Varanspire. Archaon is on the defensive. This is CRAZY! Sure, if you’ve been keeping up with the lore, then you know how this has been setup from Soul Wars and has been moving this way for awhile. Even if you have, this is kind of a big shake-up from the status quo. If you go back and kind of trace the path of the lore, this is certainly a low-point for the forces of Chaos.

Think about it. After the Age of Chaos (where Chaos had basically invaded and conquered most of the Mortal Realms and held the All-points aka Eightpoints), Sigmar shows up with this Stormcasts and basically breaks the line. The Stormcast launch this massive assault and “liberate” the Mortal Realms. I’m not going to go so far as to say everything is peaceful and Chaos is defeated, but Order, Destruction, and Death all seem to rise-up and take back their turf. Or at least make footholds and are able to counter Chaos.

Now, that’s a very high-level view of the events and I’m skipping quite a bit, but you get the idea. Fast-Forward to now and you’ve got a post-Necroquake Death army marching on Eightpoints. All of that is going to culminate in something pretty major for the setting as a whole. It’s Death vs Chaos in this fight and there will only be one army remaining. Or at least only one army holding the Eightpoints.

Anyways, there is a ton of lore going into this book and I’m excited to see how it sets up the future of AoS. But let’s talk about what’s in the book from a rules point of view.

Included in the book are:

  • New Combined Daemon Allegiance
  • Siege Rules
  • Roaming Monster Rules
  • Wandering Endless Spell Rules
  • Full Campaign Details for Wrath of the Everchosen
  • New Scenarios
  • & More!

GW also mentioned “scenarios to represent some of the 13 unique sub-factions and wild battles of the epic war” – are we going to get even more sub-factions in this book? It sure sounds like it to me!

The book itself is a 104-page hardback. It sure sounds like there is a lot of stuff packed in there, two. One other hint is the artwork on the cover because it sure looks like Archaon is fighting on foot…kind of like his old 2004 Gamesday model. Man, wouldn’t that be cool model to get in plastic? Archaon on Foot?

Anyhow, the Mortal Realms are going to experience something big with this book. Death has been making a lot of headway lately as Nagash’s plans are starting to unfold. Will Archaon maintain his hold on the Eightpoints or is Death about to capture the crossroads of the Mortal Realms?

Wait-a-minute?! Siege Rules? I’m in!
