Games Workshop has revealed a brand new piece that will send chills through the fans of Warhammer. It’s the Sound of Warhammer!

Branding is a powerful tool in any industry. It helps to identify and connect products and ideas to “Thing” – like a company or in the following example, the universe of Warhammer. Over the past few years, Games Workshop has gone through a ton of rebranding – some if it subtle, some of it pretty drastic. Now, as they explore more media avenues to reach their fans, they have created a new Warhammer indent.

What’s an ident? We’re glad you asked. It’s the short sequence used to identify a studio or channel and you see them at the start of many movies and trailers. You’d probably recognise dozens, from a kid fishing from the moon to a desk lamp jumping around… you get the idea.

It’s a powerful piece of marketing that really helps put the seal on a movie, TV show, or other visual (or audio) media. And today we get our first look:

Chills! The indent actually starts at the 1:14 mark. All the build up is the different sections being recorded. This is a quick look at the behind-the-scenes and it’s pretty darn cool! So what is this indent for anyways? Well for all the different projects GW is working on of course.

“It’s no secret that we’re working on some really exciting projects right now. We’re animating Angels of Death, developing Eisenhorn for live-action, and have just put pen to paper on a 40K anthology show. Actually, don’t quote me on that last one – it’s not announced yet.” -Andy Smillie

We’ve known those were in development but this new indent is going to help tie them all together as a part of the shared Warhammer brand. Personally, I can’t wait to see this pop-up on my screen at home or perhaps even one day at the movies on the silver screen.

If you’d like to read more about the project or check out some of the behind-the-scenes shots, you can check out their full article HERE. It’s a new beginning for Warhammer Media with this new indent. Now we’re just going to have to wait until it shows up on the screen for REAL!

Grab your popcorn – the show is about to start!
