The Death Guard might be getting some more rules in Psychic Awakening soon enough. Here are the units they need!

Games Workshop has been hinting that the Death Guard just might be the enemies of the T’au in the upcoming chapter of the Psychic Awakening: Greater Good. If the pattern repeats in Greater Good you can expect a ton of new rules for both the T’au and the Death Guard. But we’d really like to see the Death Guard get some new units as well. Now, we’re not expecting new kits – but it would be really great if the Death Guard got access to the following units.

Now, we know you can technically take these units as Nurgle Marked options or include them in a Chaos Detachment – but that’s not what we’re talking about. We want to see them included in a way that allows them to be keyword Death Guard. Let’s dive in.

Lord Discordant

Aside from the fact that including this unit in a Death Guard Army would make their Daemon Engines pretty amazing, just think of all the cool hobby and conversion opportunities! I would love to see a Death Guard version of this guy running around. You can’t tell me a bloated version of this Chaos Lord running around wouldn’t look creepy and cool!

Obliterators/Mutilators

Why don’t we have a new plastic kit for these yet? I mean, yes – you can buy the Start Collecting Box for Chaos to get plastic obliterators – but that’s not what I mean and you know it. Where’s the combo-kit for this pairing? Why not release it with the Death Guard update, GW?! And then include them both as options for the Death Guard. They already have that Nurgle-look.

Greater Possessed

So the Death Guard HAVE possessed as an option. Why not toss them a bone and give them a Death Guard Greater Possessed? Would that break the game or something? Is an extra Strength really going to be that devastating for all Nurgle Death Guard Daemon units? C’mon…do it GW, DO IT.

Master of Possession

The Master of Possession is really just a slightly juiced-up Psyker. Why not let him run with the Death Guard? Plus you could do some cool Death’s Head stuff to all the skulls on him to really make him look like a part of the Death Guard. Again, this model would pose some super cool hobby opportunities!

Havocs?

This one is a little weird. If you’re a Death Guard purist, then you should know that the Death Guard aren’t really big on long range fire-fights. So if they DID get access to Havocs, they should be limited to things like Heavy Bolters and Multi-meltas. But if you looked at the current kit, that’s not really possible to build. So this option would take a lot more work to implement. That said, it would be cool to see them pop out of a Death Guard Rhino and unload with 4 Multi-Meltas. That seems VERY Death Guard.

Bonus: Sub-Factions

Okay, this isn’t technically a unit – but the Death Guard book has 14 additional sub-factions in their Codex. It would be nice to see them get some rules. Let’s say…half? That seems about right.

What do you think? What are some of the newer Chaos Units you’d like to see the Death Guard get access to? Let us know in the comments!
