Reinforcements have arrived! Two more Characters for the Sisters of Battle and Master Lazarus for the Dark Angels – take a look inside the boxes.

We has some slightly delayed arrivals to the studio but they are better late than never. We get our first hands-on looks at three of the new character models coming to stores this weekend. Our faith has been rewarded:

Sisters On The March

Hospitaller

Sisters of the Orders Hospitaller are the physical and spiritual healers of the Adepta Sororitas. As much as their medicinal expertise and surgical skill, they provide a font of faith to those in need. Intoning prayers to salve the fevered mind and reciting tenets of fortitude, they remind their temporary ward of those saints who bore tremendous sufferings with unflinching grace. They whisper mantras of vigour to dull the pain of injury and lift the veil of fatigue. Elbows-deep in viscera, Hospitallers spit denunciations of religious hatred as they dig through screaming warriors for burning rad slugs, shards of crystallised grief and spurs of polluted shrapnel.

Of all the new Sisters of Battle kits, this one is the most narrative driven kit. Everything about this kit tells the story of what’s going on. We have the Hospitaller granting the last rites to a fallen sister – her holy symbol out, book opened and chirurgeon’s tools at the ready. When you stop and think about it, this is an intense scene. The Hospitaller is a mini-diorama of war in the Grimdark.

Junith Eruita

Junith Eruita sweeps into battle wreathed in holy fire and holding high the Mace of Castigation. Riding within the Pulpit of Saint Holline’s Basilica, she hovers across the battlefield upon thrumming waves of holy energy. The pulpit’s heavy flamers swivel seemingly of their own accord, seeking out the heretical and the faithless and immolating them without mercy. As the pyres blaze higher, the Canoness Superior’s voice rings out over their furious crackling, her every utterance as sharp and clear as the bells of Ophelia VII. No matter how outnumbered, how beaten down and bloodied they may be, every true Imperial servant who hears her words feels the fires of faith kindle anew in their breast. They surge back into the fight with a prayer on their lips and righteous hatred in their eyes. This is Eruita’s greatest gift from the Emperor, this undying flame of absolute belief that leaps to all those around her as though their souls were dry tinder and her words the blazing brand. In this inferno of faith have countless heretics, witches and aliens burned, and by its white heat have manifold Imperial victories been forged.

Junith Eruita aka Battle Pulpit aka Dame Judi Dench is one of our favorite new models from the range. It’s a cool pulpit for sure – very evocative of a great gothic cathedral with a Grimdark twist. The flamer section below does feel a little less ornate than the rest of the model – but that could be partly because of the paint job. But the overall model is still really impressive. This is going to be a great addition to any collection.

Dark Angels Master Lazarus

Lazarus is a magnificent warrior, welding Enmity’s Edge with all the martial skill expected of the Dark Angels. Known throughout the Chapter for his cool demeanour, it is only when fighting enemy sorcerers that his composure fades in any way. He has seen many battle-brothers fall to the evils of the warp and delivers every strike against enemy psykers all the harder in tribute to the lost, whose names he chants as he fights to invoke their memory and inspire himself to courageous deeds.

Master Lazarus is the first new Primaris Character that can be assembled as both a unique character and non-unique variants. This is a really great concept and we here at BoLS are hoping that we see this trend continue. In the box you get different head and arm options so you can assemble this model in more ways which is great. Lazarus manages to look similar enough to Azrael to suggest that one could have replaced the other. You’d really just need a combi-plasma to do a conversion justice. Maybe next time…
