Orks in Saga of the Beast have a unique new subfaction rule. Instead of a Clan Kultur, you can choose a specialist mob instead. Check ’em out.

Orks love fighting the most. And nowhere is that more readily visible than in the new rules for specialist subfactions in the newest Saga of the Beast. Instead of tagging Orks with a Clan keyword, you can give them a “specialist mob” designation instead. What is a specialist mob? They’re basically similar fighting styles. So your Orks might be Pyromaniacs or Feral Orks or Flyboyz or Madboyz.

Today we’re going to take a look at all the different specialist mobs mentioned in Saga of the Beast. Let’s dive right on in.

First of all, I love the idea that Orks out there are fighting like-mindedly. It does hyper focus you a little bit, but that feels like what most players are doing anyway. The way Subkulturs work means we’ll probably see a few interesting list options when it comes to putting detachments together. Especially since you can replace your Clan with a Subkultur either by the unit or by the Detachment. I’m terrified of the all Boomboy detachment that comes marching down the tabletop, lobbing explosions like it was nothing.

Not all of these Subkulturs make for their own detachment. You’d be hard-pressed to field a Grot-Mobs detachment, but even being able to swap them out from the Clan for a specialist mob of their own opens up some options.

What do you think of the new rules? What specialist mobs will you be including in your lists? Let us know in the comments!
