We now know who the combatants are for War of the Spider – Let’s update the list and see what’s left!

Games Workshop officially revealed War of the Spider and it’s cast of characters – or at least the armies participating. It’s a three-way fight with Adeptus Custodes and Imperial Assassins vs Death Guard vs Fabius Bile and his renegade Chaos Space Marines.

Updated Info

  • Phoenix Rising – Aledari and Drukhari
  • Faith & Fury – Sisters of Battle (according to the lore and website*), Black Templars, and Chaos Marines
  • Blood of Baal – Blood Angels and Tyranids
  • Ritual of the Damned – Dark Angels, Thousand Sons, Grey Knights
  • The Greater Good – T’au, Genestealer Cult, Astra Militarum
  • Saga of the Beast – Orks vs Space Wolves
  • Engine War – Adeptus Mechanicus, Imperial Knights, Chaos Knights, Chaos Daemons
  • War of the Spider – Adeptus Custodes, Death Guard, More Chaos Space Marines (Fabius Bile)

*Confirmed for getting rules in a different Psychic Awakening Book

That leaves us with Harlequins, Deathwatch, Necrons, and Sisters of Battle. It’s also interesting to note that the Chaos Space Marines are getting to double dip, but considering that they have a pretty large pool of CSM Legions to work with, it kind of makes sense.

Due to the understandable COVID-19 delays, we’ve got to adjust the time table for these releases as well. All of the products from GW have been pushed back until at least May 2nd.

March – Saga of the Beast (book 6) – physical release delayed, available digitally

April – Engine War (book 7) – delayed until at least May 2nd

May – War of the Spider (book 8) – probably delayed until after Engine War releases (late May possibly June)

June – ???

July – ???

With those delays and the fact that there are at least 4 factions yet to receive rules, it’s a safe bet that there is at least one more book, possibly two. And those have probably also been pushed back as well. We might see things shuffle around all the way out to July or possibly August for Psychic Awakening at this point.

Personally, I was expecting a three-way throwdown between Deathwatch, Necrons and Harlequins but now the Sisters are in the mix – and could we see MORE Chaos pop-up, too? Nothings off the table now!

Are we going to see Deathwatch and Sister vs Necrons vs Harlequins? Or are we going to see two more book (and possibly more)?
