Once upon a dream I discovered a gorgeous set of cosplays that speak not only to the fantastical, but also to cultural significance.

I recently discovered an AMAZING photography team that I had not ever heard of. As normally happens, I was looking through my daily dose of cosplay forums and groups, and suddenly an amazing image of Snow White popped off the page at me. I stopped in my tracks and just stared at the stunning image for several minutes. It was a FEAST for the eyes.

I quickly clicked into the post and was flooded with myriad wonderful images depicting the various Disney Princesses, and other characters. But these images were done in a unique way I had never seen before, fluidly fusing together elements of cultures in the execution. The characters were absolutely recognizable. But they were also infused with a new light that brings something special and captivating out of timeless characters we know well. Who are these characters? Where do they come from, and what are their stories? I HAD to know more.

“…We connected because of both our passion for preserving precious moments. We fell head over heels in love with one another, and in the process created something beautiful: CreativeSoul Photography. With more than 10 years of working with hundreds of children, families, and brands, we specialize in lifestyle photography and authentic, visual storytelling. Our holistic approach to capturing one-of-a-kind moments has allowed their work to be Teen Vogue, CNN, Glamour magazine, Vogue Italia, Black Enterprise, BET.com, on The Real daytime talk show, BBC News, the OWN network, and more.”

“I’m a firm believer in everyone using their own personal gifts and talents to affect change. When the dust settles, yes we’ll still need activists, but we’ll also need policymakers put in place who can actually change laws and policies that feed into the systematic structures of racism that are still in place to this day. When the dust settles we’ll need artists, photographers, movie directors and media moguls helping to change the narrative and negative stereotypes that have plagued the media for centuries.”- CreativeSoul Photography

Recently, CreativeSoul Photography has been doing some amazing work with kids. And they showcase a gorgeous array of images representing cultures from around the world. The quality of imagery, as well as the impact of color and execution, are phenomenal. It’s no wonder that CreativeSoul has just published a book of their works. You can check the book out on their website.

We’re hoping to see much more amazing art from CreativeSoul Photography!
