Games Workshop has just released even MORE info on Battle Sizes, CPs, The Command Phase, Detachments and more – now with charts!

In case you missed the previous post GW’s Warhammer 40,000 Daily covered a lot of this info. But now we have some visuals to go along with the news and it’s pretty interesting stuff!

New Command Points – Power Level & Points Limits

via Warhammer Community

We saw a previous version of this chart but now we have even more info. We now have the Power Levels to look at to match and some more redefined points limits. Good info all around.

From GWNote that the total Power Level is based on the combined power of all the models used in the battle (so the combined Power Level of both your and your opponent’s armies).

Detachments Costs Command Points

“Instead of earning you Command points, each Detachment you take will instead COST you Command points. However, it’s worth noting that the Command points spent on a ‘core’ Detachment (Patrol, Battalion or Brigade) are refunded if it also includes your Warlord, so your first Detachment is usually free. An army drawn exclusively from the same Faction and comprising a single Detachment is the most strategically flexible on account of their experience fighting alongside one another, and therefore offers the most Command points.”

The new Battalion Detachment will cost you 3 CP to include but will refund you 3 CP if your Warlord is a part of the Detachment.

The Command Phase

“Not only do you start the battle with more Command points, but in each of your Command phases – the new opening phase of your turn – you will receive one additional Command point.”

This is pretty huge. Getting back a CP at the start of your Command Phase is a nice bonus for Battle-forged armies. That’s going to ensure you’ve got CPs even in the late game to help you use Stratagems and go for the win!

Core Stratagem Preview

Well now that we all have more CPs to spend, we’re going to need MORE Stratagems, right? Honestly, I can’t keep track of all the current ones already – but now we’ve got more “Core” Stratagems to remember…

“Thankfully, the core Stratagems available to every army have been increased to seven.”

At least this one is universal and seems pretty solid for melee armies:

That’s one way to punish units for running away from you! You may not want to run from those 30 Ork Boyz.

Who’s ready for more Command Points to spend on the things you WANT to play with?
